I, Ripper by Stephen Hunter

Post by debbiediablo »

Many years ago and two degrees in the past, I was a librarian back when the major was still termed Library Science. Stephen Hunter was and is one of my favorite novelists, and he wrote the absolutely most memorable first line of any book I've ever read, fiction or non-fiction, in Dirty White Boys. His first stab at Jack the Ripper's story was published five days ago, titled I, Ripper, and it's exceptional, even for those who (like me) generally prefer their fact not mixed with fiction.

On that note, I'll tag this on since he's paying me to do so (:smiliecolors: NOT!!) that those of you who have not read MB's The Girl With the Pansy Pin should do so....

Yes, and yes! :smiliecolors: Just remember that Stephen Hunter is a novelist and not an historian but he has done his research so the book doesn't fly in the face of fact.
