I was in Madison, Wisconsin yesterday, and picked up a copy of this week’s Isthmus newspaper. (The Isthmus is a free alternative weekly newspaper based in Madison, WI.) I opened the paper, and found that I was on page 30 and 31. Toward the bottom of page 30, was the word ‘Lizzie’, which immediately caught my eye. Of course I had to check it out:

Given that she notoriously gave her father and mother 40 and 41 whacks with an ax, respectively, Lizzie Borden’s story is one of the more metal tales in U.S. history. So it makes since that Lizzie — the musical based on her story — is in a similar vein. Boasting an almost entirely female cast and produced by Music Theatre of Madison, one of the city’s most edgy troupes, Lizzie draws in equal part from Stephen Sondheim and Bikini Kill. The result is a raucous, feminist punk musical about one of America’s most notorious murders and murderers. ...

I highly doubt that I will attend this event, since the tickets are rather pricey at $28.00, for general admission, but I found it interesting that a musical is based on Lizzie Borden. In addition to that, I found it very strange that I had opened the paper to the exact page that the relatively small notice was on!!! :shaking:
