Fifty years ago ...

Post by twinsrwe »

It’s hard to believe that 50 years ago we were gripped with an unbelievable fear that continues to haunt our lives. It's been 50 years since Charles Manson's followers carried out a two-day murderous rampage in Los Angeles, killing seven people, as well as one unborn child, and igniting fear throughout the city and the nation. The victims of the killing spree on August 8, 1969. were Sharon Tate (26), her 8 ½ month old unborn child, Voytek Frykowski (32), Steven Parent (18), Jay Sebring (35) and Abigail Folger (25). The victims of the killing spree on August 9, 1969, were Leno La Bianca (aged 44) and Rosemary La Bianca (38).

Another event, which occurred 50 years ago, is the Woodstock Music Festival, which was held on August 15–18, 1969. This event attracted the massive-size audience of more than 400,000 people!

Just came across your post and appreciate the links. I was about ten when the Manson murders occurred and can remember somewhat the news coverage of it then.

You're welcome for the links, kssunflower. The Tate-LaBianca Murders were terrifying, even for those of us who lived thousands of miles away. I have always found it interesting that history claims there were 7 victims in the Tate-LaBianca murders, but in reality, there were actually eight victims. Sharon Tate was 8 ½ months pregnant; that baby was old enough to have lived outside of Sharon’s body.

I didn't know that about her baby. Have been wanting to see Quentin Tarantino's new movie that includes her.
