How is everybody?

Post by Constantine »

I'm fine, so far (as far as I know). Working from home.

Yourselves?

Thank you so much for asking, Constantine! I am glad you are okay.

My husband and I are also fine, so far. Since we are the owners of a cleaning business, we are not able to work from home. However, I am thankful that some people, like yourself, are able to do so.

The forum has been really slow lately, but I hope other members will post on this thread so that we can all stay in touch.

Be safe!

Everyone's is fine here, Twins. We keep a personal can of Raid in pocket in case anyone gets too close.

Though a food store employee tested positive down the road from us at the local village supermart. The supermart serves much of the Point Village and Harbor Village where all the exclusive properties exist. Many are summer homes for city folk who live elsewhere. Many from the NY area.

I'm afraid that New Yorkers are getting a bad rap and the blame for many of the Virus cases that are popping up across the country. Those who live in NY and have money are fleeing the big city and some are settling at the Point, (remember Point Road) and the Harbor district.

We try not to shop at the local supermart if we can avoid it, even though it is down the road. Their prices are on the average 10 to 20 percent more expensive than the big Supermarkets. A hand full of celebs have been witnessed shopping at the local supermart, such as James Taylor and Billy Joel. (Joel is a boater and the distance between Point Village and Long Island is a short hop for a large power boat such as the one owned by Joel. His boat, yacht, is in the photos below)

So we practice the two meter rule...cause you never know.

To conclude on my post above:

Below is Billy Joel's other boat(s), Alexa, which he has owned for many years and which was named for his daughter. He also had a hit song named for his daughter called, The Downeaster Alexa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhijZuIWNUA

Great passionate song about the loss of fishing life on Long Island.

(How do I get so sidetracked?)

I don't know, but I like it!!! I always enjoy your sidetracked subjects. Thank you for posting the pics of Billy Joel and his boats.

It's a scary world we live in and I know you are right in saying that New York is being blamed for many of the CVOID-19 cases. My heart goes out to all of the front line people who are working so hard to care for those who have the deadly CVOID-19 virus, and losing the battle right and left.

I'm glad that everyone is okay, and I am so thankful that Constantine started this thread. I think about all of my forum friends, and wish them the best. Take care and stay safe.

Thanks Twins:

As a supplement to the Billy Joel video above, The Downeaster Alexa, here is my favorite version. Above Joel is playing with Itzhak Perlman. How can one do better than to be backed up by Perlman.

But in the video below Joel has teamed up with Jean luc Ponty, the French Jazz violinist. I lost interest in Ponty over the years but I had several of his albums back in the 70s. (Yep, vinyl) Great to see him here and at his best. And what a violinist he is! Almost steals the show from Joel with his playing. Much more dynamic performance than Perlman's. Two different styles and approach to playing.

All that being said:

My apology to Constantine

Perhaps we should get back to the essential essence of the thread. Carry on, Constantine :!:

You're welcome, MB. I enjoyed the last video you posted, too. Good music!!!

I also want to apologize to Constantine for going off topic. I am sorry Constantine. I think of you a lot since you live in the hardest hit Coronavirus hot spot.

As you probably already know, Snokkums started a thread this morning asking how everyone is doing. I replied and informed her that another thread had been started regarding that very subject, and I asked if she would mind posting how she is doing on this thread. I hope she follows through.

I just saw that thread. I was about to post to it when I saw your post! Still okay, as far as I know. I go out only to buy groceries and the like, which is once or twice most days. There are lines to go into supermarkets, grocery stores and the like. They'll only let a few in at a time. I suppose it's the same in most places. I've taken to wearing a saran wrap mask, mostly to reassure others.

We are still okay, too. It's a good thing I don't have any trouble keeping myself entertained; it is a rarity that I ever get bored. We only go out to buy groceries, at least once a week. We haven't had a limit put on the number of people allowed in the grocery stores at a time, but the supermarkets have had to put a limit on the number of items an individual is allowed to buy at a time; for example: toilet paper, bread, eggs, hand sanitizer etc.

It's interesting the inventive ways people come up with for protecting themselves and others. Constantine, your saran wrap mask is a ingenius idea! How do you make a saran wrap mask?

I have begun to wear a wide hairband over my mouth and nose; like these:

s-l500.jpg

I am leaving the actual face masks for the front line people. I also wear disposable gloves!

I just cut off a sufficient amount of saran wrap and tie a knot at the back of my head. As far as I can see, there haven't been any limits put on what people buy, but they do run out of stuff. Fortunately, even before this thing hit, I was always in the habit of buying a large supply of toilet paper each time. My firm gave us all a bottle of hand sanitizer and I still have some left. I wash my hands whenever I come home.

Dang, Harold, I missed replying to your post in June; I am so sorry about that. So, following is my welcome message to you.

Hello Harold, welcome to forum.

I think we are all pretty tired of this pandemic. I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but the COVID-19 pandemic could realistically go on for another year year. There are so many people who are socializing without wearing a mask or social distancing, and until everyone wises up, I'm afraid was new cases are going to continue to spike.

I "graduated" to cloth masks some time ago, of which I have a bunch. I wash them in soap and water after wearing them once. Had a test for the antibody a week ago. It was negative, so I must be doing something right. Actually, I was hoping it would be positive, which would mean that I was resistant. Can't count on that now.

Glad to hear you are doing OK, Constantine. I also wear cloth masks; they are a lot more cooler, temperature wise, than the blue ones we can all buy. Beside you can tailor the cloth ones to your own personal liking in color, design or on design. I have several of them and I also wash them out with soap and water after each use. They dry overnight, especially when I hang them by the ear-loops on hangers with a notch on each end like pictured:

We are not going to see a decline in confirmed cases of COVID-19 until everyone is wearing a mask and social distancing. Stay safe, Constantine. Thanks for checking in with us; I appreciate it.

I was surprised to see a forum on the Corona virus on the Lizzie Borden forum, but it makes a change.

I hope everyone is coping well with all the restrictions imposed on everyone. Here in the UK we have had a slight increase in confirmed cases, but a slower increase in the number of deaths. (I think the death toll is over 42,000). Our PM, Boris Johnson, had it quite badly, but he was in the danger zone of being a man, overweight and in his fifties.

Does anyone wonder why Donald Trump was only in the hospital for a few days? Has he really had the disease? Just asking.

I trust everyone on this Forum stays safe and hope that the virus will be gone soon.

Back to work (from home) since December 7 after a 7-month furlough. I really thought they'd let me go, but I'm back. Go out to eat outdoors (only) several times a week. So far, so good. Hope to get the vaccine as soon as possible.

The situation is mixed, i sit with pneumonia and intestinal bleeding at home. My husband, has been to his Family in Germany since, 9 months at the moment and, I wouldn't dare to say, that we will see each other again so soon. But, luckily I still have my dogs, that are always there.

Hey y'all! It's been forever... so sorry! Raising my child, starting a new business, studying for a license to start practicing a new business.... you know..

Had my first shot this past Monday- not bad, even though I hate needles! I bled more than the average person but it didn't slow me down.

Hi, Misty! Good luck in your new business.

Got my second shot on March 20th. No bad side effects to either shot. In fact, I apparently have a fringe benefit: A skin problem I've had for a long time has improved markedly! I've heard of one other case like this. Needles don't faze me anymore, though they did when I was a kid.

Just reread this thread a year and a half later. Can't believe I ever thought a Saran wrap mask was any good! Glad I graduated to the real thing soon enough. Have had three boosters. About six months after the second one, I came down with Covid. Fortunately, it was a fairly mild case that lasted less than a week. Shortly afterwards, I got the third booster with all the bells and whistles. I continue to wear masks (three at a time), though far fewer people are wearing them in my neck of the woods these days. Hope you are all okay.
