New psychic show on TLC starts tomorrow night
When I was doing research for my Documentary Lizzie talk (given in Fall River on Aug. 3) I got in touch with Jane Doherty about her video on her investigation on the Borden house.
I guess I am on her mailing list now as just tonight she sent me a link to a new TLC show she is involved in called DEAD TENANTS.
It premieres tomorrow night on the 13th of October at 10PM and repeated at 2AM. There is a new show every Thursday for the next 10 weeks.
The description of tomorrow night's show is: Lost Souls. "A forcible spirit terrorizes the Reynolds and their young children. The ghostly presence strikes out and even pins the father down in his bed. It is up to the Preternatural Research Society to end the violence and this seemingly endless parade of ghosts."
I have no idea of its quality but it is worth a watch.
October 20th: The Spirit in the Basement. The ghosts of a unsettled mother, a teen killed in a car accident, a even a murderer haunt the Lindenmeier home. It is up to the the Preternatural Research Society to rid them of these ghosts.
October 27th: The Last Resort. A headless figure haunts Fred and is destroying his relationship with his family. He feels like he is going insane, but hopefully the Preternatural Research Society can stop the demonic influence, or Fred and his family will have to leave their house.

I remember your talk and Miss Doherty's humorous episode. That struck me as VERY funny at the time.
Your post mentions the forthcoming episode where "...The ghostly presence strikes out and even pins the father down in his bed. ..."
There is a phenomenon known as sleep paralysis where the person just before going to sleep or upon awakening is unable for a brief period to move any portion of his body. I have experienced this myself very briefly several times. It will be interesting to see if that was a possible cause of the incident with the father in the show.
Has anyone else ever experienced a "sleep paralysis" incident?

I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

Actually, I think I have. At the time I was sure it was a spirit presence, as we were staying overnight in an inn, parts of which were built in 1650. It was in the town of Hexham, England.
I "awoke" in the night, with a terrible feeling of oppression. I felt something was holding me down. I thought if I could just call out to Stefani, then I would be safe from this "thing."
I struggled without moving, trying very hard to call out.
Finally, her name escaped me and the pressure and presence disappeared. Funnily enough, Stef did not wake up!
It was many years later when I first heard of this new explanation of sleep paralysis.
It was written up in The Fortean Times, a British Paranormal magazine.
Here is a link to the magazine.
It's just a link- does not include info on the subject we are discussing:

I wonder how common it is & also wonder what causes it?
I had been ill- was just getting the flu- and ended up at the doctor in Scotland, and prescibed antibiotics right after this bout with the sleep paralysis.
I wonder if illness or virus or stress brings it on?
I never would have thought that 3 people right here would know about this.

I'm watching it right now. It's an hour show which should be a half hour. Meaning, a lot of repetition- you can enter the show at any point and be updated on what went on before after each commercial break. At least on this first segment.
There's a lot of emoting by the psychics.
They did an Electronic Voice Recording, or whatever it's called. That got to the skeptical eldest daughter. It was the best part of the show.
Jane wore her special sleeveless flowered tunic top with the built-in bellows.

Forget sleep paralysis. Haven't any of you seen the X Files episode on the sucubus? The spirit of some old crone is sitting on your chest sucking your life-force out of your body.
I remember staying at an inn in England. The innkeeper offered to knock me up in the morning. I remember being stunned at the time. I didn't know it meant a wake-up call.
