Anyone a Tennis fan?

Post by Smudgeman »

I have to admit, tennis is my favorite sport to watch. I used to play when I was in high school and college, but a bad back has me playing every now and then now.
Today, Andre Agassi played his last match and is retiring. Bad back as well. One day I hope to go see the US Open live in New York! I know someone on here collects Tennis Photography I think, is it DWilly?

Sorry! I only caught a bit of it this weekend.
There was ladies golf and guys golf and the college football season started Thursday night so I'm afraid I did not see much tennis!
(I watched a tad of poker too).

Yes, I am a tennis fan. :thumright: And yes, it is I who collects tennis photos of players from the 20s, 30s and 1940s. I also have one Eleanor "Teach" Tennant racquet from the 1930s.

Anyway, it was sad seeing Andre retire. I hope Roger wins the Open. I like Roger a great deal and even play tennis with a Wilson N Code Six-One Code. Which is the racquet he uses. Although, I do not have the same results he does

Here is one of my pic. I really need to get a nice frame for it. It is Helen Wills:

It was sad to see Andre retire. Roger Federer will probably win, but I am rooting for Andy Roddick. On the women's side, I would love to see Lindsay Davenport win one more major before she retires, although Maria Sharapova is looking sharp as well as the Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne.

That is cool you have a racket from the 1930's. I have an old wooden racket from the 1970's which I don't know how I ever played with, and I have a Yonex. I wish I could play more tennis, but my body is telling me otherwise. :cyclopsani:

Also, nice pic. It is hard to believe the women played in those long skirts back then.
