My heart is breaking on the news of Steve Irwin's death. He was my all time most favorite person on earth. Good husband, father, person- gentle, sweet soul. I just cannot believe it.

Same here. My whole family just loved him. His passion for animals made him a hero in our book. Sad that he died, but at least he was doing what he loved at the time. If only we all could go that way!

It is indeed a sad ending. I always enjoyed his shows, his enthusiasm and that great Australian accent.

This article says how rare fatal attacks by stingrays are.

He was a great guy, how awful!

Its the attacks that you don't expect that are the most deadly.
If it did pierce his chest and heart, that is a killer. IMO

My heart is breaking as well.

Steve Irwin was probably the #1 informer/educator on the care and preservation of wild animals. Yes, he took risks...but it was to help the rest of us understand why we need to learn about, care for, and protect the animal knigdom. He truly gave all.

My prayers are with the Irwin family in this dark hour of need.
I'm defying gravity and you can't pull me down.
