Ted Gutowski, 72

Post by Bob Gutowski »

My exasperating but also funny father, Ted, passed away after years of illness yesterday at my parents's home in NJ, which is what he wanted. I remember one of the years Jay and I hosted Christmas in our apartment in Jackson Heights and my dad came upon my Borden House brick, and how truly impressed he was (he was an old true crime enthusiast himself, and supported my interest in the Borden case)!

Bob, I'm so very sorry. I lost my dad in 1987, but it seems like yesterday. I still laugh with my boys in sharing memories of him. It somehow helps.

Please accept my condolences, Bob. We are immortal as long as we are loved and remembered. But there will always be someone special missing for those of us left behind. I lost my Dad 6 years ago, and he was one of the most delightful old curmudgeons I ever met.

My condolences as well Bob, think about the good times you had with him. Losing a loved one is one the hardest tests we as humans ever go through in life.

My condolences, Bob. May your Father have eternal peace.

FYI, I grew up in Jackson Heights near the airport. If you still live there, say hello to Roosevelt Boulevard for me. I miss the old Motherland very much.

Of course I will, Richard!

Thanks to you all for your outpouring of sympathy. I'll be sure to tell my mom about the support I receive from you when I see her Thursday!

I feel for you, Bob. It is never easy losing someone you care about. My Mother died last year after a 6 year battle, and even though I saw her death coming and was braced for it, it still stung. The past year has taken the edge off of her death.

I know what you are going through. You may never get over it completely, I doubt anyone ever does, but time has a way of healing the wound to a large degree. Stay focused on the good times you two had. I'm pulling for you.

Hang in there.

Take heart, Bob. Your father will be with you always. Deepest condolences to you and yours.

I'm catching up on my Forum reading and did not equate a topic titled "Ted Gutowski" with Bob Gutowski! I don't know why!
Wow, that's a blow to lose a father.
The memories are what will keep him alive. I loved talking about my dad after he passed away. It felt like he was sharing in the stories.
Bless you and I hope you all can find some peace.

Bob, my condolences to you and your family. My father pasted away several years ago, and I still miss him, but, he is never further away than my memories of him, which still warm my heart.

I'm happily back at work. The memorial service was wonderful, and my mom is surrounded by loving neighbors who are ready for her to return to Bingo and The Red Hat Society. I told my relatives about the cyber-communities to which I belong who offered their sympathy and support so, of course, you folks here must've felt your ears burning.

Thank you so, so much! :)
