Post by Allen »

I think this should be my last post. But I wanted to apologize to you all. I know I can be abrasive without meaning to be sometimes. It's the debater in me. I have a passion for research, so any topic I go into I research it until I think I can't learn any more. Either because I have enough information or because there isn't enough information. Then I've been told I should have been a lawyer because I could argue the ears off a deaf man. I apologize that this passion sometimes comes out in a manner I didn't intend. In the last week I've angered one member into flipping her lid, and had posts removed because I obviously offended someone, or stepped outside the rules. I think I should quit while I'm behind. Just think of it as someone finally dropping a house on me. Thanks for the great exchange of ideas.

Allen - I am really bummed to see you think you should quit posting. Your posts are good and intelligent and I so enjoy them. Please don't stop.

I just logged on today. Are you talking about your angering Ms. Turner, or was it another poster I haven't read? If it was Ms. Turner, come on. You gotta ignore her. She was not making much sense in her last posts.

I sometimes can sound like a know-it-all on here, and I truly don't mean to. I sometimes speak in a formal manner and get taken as being very definite in my opinions, and I don't mean it that way. I sometimes write truthfully on a review of something - if I think there's a problem with it, I say so, and people can hate me for that. Nothing I ever reviewed on here was meant in a personal way whatsoever. A review is just ONE person's opinion.

I think you're one of the best posters here. I have never taken any of your posts to be abrasive. I so enjoy you. Please stay. Maybe this is the month everybody needs a hug. Take one from me, huh?

Allen, I am also bummed that you feel you shouldn’t do anymore posting.

I really enjoy your posts, and have never been offended by any of them. You bring things to the forum that are interesting and thought provoking.

Please reconsider your decision to stop posting.

Let's see, causing someone to squirrel out and getting censored all in the same week, hmmmm. As one abrasive cuss to another, it sounds like a good week to me! Seriously Missy, your passion for research would be greatly missed around here, as well as your intellect. I really wish you would reconsider, and please don't feel that you have to walk on eggshells, just be yourself. As far as I'm concerned, the less political correctness and the more absolute correctness, the better! You must do what's right for you, and I support your decision either way.

I am new to the forum and I don't post very much however, I am concerned over the squabbling that has broken out on this forum. I joined the forum because I found it to be intelligent and full of stimulating conversation. If there is one thing we all should learn from the entire tragedy (that without we would not even have anything to discuss,) is that people must try harder to get along with one another.

We all have different personalities and opinions but if we want to belong to a forum where we can discuss our opinions, we must be open minded enough accept the fact that others may differ from our own. We should take this as an opportunity to learn from this experience rather than attack one another.

I hope the forum doesn't lose any of it's members, and I hope that I haven't offended anyone as that is not my intention. We all have something valuable to contribute and it would be sad to let quarreling get in the way. I really enjoy hearing what the rest of you have to say.

Thanks for listening.

Allen, I have appreciated your research, your postings of newspaper clippings. Several have revised my opinions of this case
-- particularly the one concerning the speculative content of the "Letter to Lizzie Johnston," which I believe could have thrown the case against L.A.B.

I lament the loss of 99 percent of the people who have stopped posting here over the past three years. Hope you'll reconsider!

Allen, you didn't do anything wrong. So many people who used to make this forum exciting have fallen by the wayside, and if we lose more it would be...well, sad. Don't let this forum dry up. Don't let someone who was itching for a fight anyway drive you away! You've been here a long time...obviously 99.9% of the members have enjoyed your posts. The .1% that want to dictate their own rules while they recklessly break the rules of the forum (such as not rudely insulting other members) don't belong here, regardless of HOW intelligent they think they are!

Discord on this forum is rare...very rare!

Melissa,
Don't leave because of one person who flipped her lid over nothing. I enjoy your posts, and think you have done alot of research and are more knowledgeable about this case than most of us.

Thank you guys. I did have intentions of not returning. But with a little time passing I realized that would be silly. I really enjoy being a member here. I enjoy talking about all things Borden, and there really is no better place you could find to do that than here.
