Lizzie at the Wyoming Territorial Prison

Post by Caitlin »

So I'm out in Wyoming for college and there isn't much to do in Laramie Wyoming....so my roomate and I checked around and found that in honor of Halloween, they would be doing haunted tours of the Wyoming Territorial Prison, only in operation for a short while, but still perfectly intact. We decided to go, for the most part the tour was amazing, but I must say I was extremely upset about one part. On the first part of the tour, they "re-enacted" scenes from in-famous killers. I was shocked...the lights suddenly went out and children singing can be heard, gradually getting louder "Lizzie Borden took an axe...." I was terribly excited to see what they would do with Lizzie...to my dismay, the boy lying on the couch, playing the role of Andrew, seemed much younger than the girl playing Lizzie. I let this go.....but couldn't let go of the fact that when Lizzie began to swing, she hit his chest with the fake axe....I'm not sure if this was just to keep things less gruesome for the younger kids, rather than seeing Lizzie swing an axe into her father's head, or if it was really an oversight! Either way, I was majorly bummed! And in order to make up for it, told my roomate about Andrew's real injuries on the carride back to the dorms!

Has anyone else experienced any "Haunted Houses" with Lizzie re-enactments, aside from 92 Second Street? I'd be interested to hear those stories!

Thanks for the story! That's an unusual one- I'd not heard anything like that before.
They did have Lizzie here one year I believe at the Horror Nights at Halloween at Islands of Adventure or someplace. She was on the commercials but looked like a man dressed like a woman, if I recall correctly. I don't think she's still featured.
