What Pet Lovers Want (Be)-For Christmas!

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser upright vacuum cleaner!
At Target or Sears for $149.00. Model #3920

As soon as I used mine I put my other vacuums out in the trash.

It's bagless. I vacuumed 1/3 of my living room rug where no pet had been since 1997, and I got a catcher's-mitt sized ball of pet hair out of the cannister. I had to dump the cannister twice to do that rug.

To vacuum the front foyer, hall runner, and family room- new rugs- one year old- I had to empty the cannister 4 times!
That's enough pet hair to make a whole new cat! :cat:

I recommend this vacuum!

This bunch is what came up from a 5x7 foyer rug, a hall runner, and an 8 1/2 by 11 foot rug- all one year old. And I only have 2 cats! See the 12" ruler. This cat hair was about 3" deep.

You've heard that there's a woman who knits sweaters from yarn she spun from her cat's (singular) hair?

I always assumed she collected it from brushing her cat. Vacuuming it up would save a lot of wear and tear to the poor cat's back. Shed, darn it, I have a sleeve to finish!

She wouldn't have to mow the cat anymore!

I bought one on Kat's recommendation (No, she doesn't sell them.) and all I can say is Wow! It really does what it says.

I have one cat but she is a shredder. Would have never thought that there was that much fur embedded in the rugs. It's also a pretty good regular vacuum as well.

You need to get a terrier- these guys don't shed. They were very good about leaving their red bows alone today as they posed for their close-ups on Christmas Eve. The downside of non-shedders is that they have to be clipped every 8 weeks.

I've been looking for a good vacuum cleaner. I think I'll check this one out.

Kat- how do you know that is cat hair? Maybe it's whats left of your carpet?

Harry- you had a cat who was a shredder? I've had cats who loved to shred things too. The sofa, TV, drapes, my leg.

Thanks for the info, Kat. I'll check into this one. My old bag-type Hoover is '60's vintage and long past it.

I had one of the old Hoover's, I think it was a green color. That thing lasted quite awhile.

Here's a Dog and Cat themed e-mail I received:
:santa:

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, " I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG which is God spelled backwards.

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased

And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a shit one way or the other.

I've got two cats and one half grown kitten, and oh yeah, there's a whole lot of truth in that!!! But I know they love me, I can see it in their eyes when I open the can of cat food, or when they are chilly and think I'm warmer, or when I come back from being away, for longer then usual, they are ever so happy I found my way back!!! lol

Oops, should have typed shedder. She never has been a shredder and she took to her scratching pole right off. Thank goodness.

Oh the "kids" get bathed twice a week and sent to be clipped and pampered at Canine Design every 8 weeks. They love their baths. We sleep with them so they have to smell good! They have a special doggie cologne called "Frenchie" which I would wear myself! They also have an extensive wardrobe of coats and sweaters which they need up here. Emma has a bling-bling collar, pink cashmere sweater and a purple T with "Born Fabulous" on it. They have an anti-itch shampoo for their hind parts and a no-tears for their head and little faces. This pair was rescued from Terrier Rescue Rhode Island
http://www.foxterrierrescue.net/listing.html after they were found on the streets of Burlington Vermont living on garbage and all matted. They belonged to a puppy mill style breeder who kept them only outside. The dogs did not know how to climb stairs, nor were they housebroken, neutered or had shots. Nobody wanted them as they were a pair and terriers are peppy dogs. We had 2 before and raised one litter of four so we knew what we were getting into. They have come a long way in 18 months and both are 7 years old. Caesar has his own blog called Wired for Action! Spoiled rotten- you bet! Caesar is named for the wirehaired fox terrier of King Edward VII who mourned his master's demise by walking behind the casket in procession. Greyfriar's Bobby is another famous terrier who went to lie on his Master's grave in the cemetery-there is today a statue of him there- terriers are loyal.

Bobby was a little Skye Terrier dog owned by John Gray (or 'Auld Jock' as he was known to locals) Bobby was so loyal to his master that when Auld Jock died of tubeculosis on 15th February in 1858 and was buried in an unmarked grave in Greyfriar's Kirkyard, Bobby kept a daily vigil and lay over his masters grave for 14 years until his own death on 14th January 1872.

Bobby became such a popular sight that people would come from all over the country to wait at the gates for the One O' Clock Gun to be fired, Bobby's signal to temporarily leave his post to be fed by locals.

Originally a Gardener, John Gray came to Edinburgh in the early 1800's with his wife Jess and his son also named John. Due to the harsh winter weather there was little work for a garderner and so John Gray joined The Edinburgh Police as constable No.90 where he was required to get a watch dog.

There began a devoted partnership that lasted 14 years after his death and has been imortalised in Scottish History.

Bobby's collar is on display at the Huntly House Museum in the Canongate, Royal Mile.

In 1961 Walt Disney turned Bobby's Story into a much loved feature film and more recently a new version of the story " The Adventures of Greyfriar's Bobby" directed by John Henderson was released in cinemas in February 2006.
