lizchairbirthday

Lizzie Borden was born on July 19, 1860, and Fall River and the Lizzie Borden B&B is celebrating . . .

It’s Lizzie’s birthday, and you’re invited

By Deborah Allard
Herald News Staff Reporter
Fall River —
Celebrate a little local infamy today with something sweet for Miss Lisbeth Borden. It’s her birthday.
Lizzie Andrew Borden was born on July 19, 1860, to Andrew and Sarah Borden. Sarah died when Lizzie was just 3 years old.

Lizzie lived at 92 Second St. in her early years, where the grisly murders of her father and step-mother, Abby Durfee Borden, occurred on Aug. 4, 1892.

After Lizzie was acquitted of the murders, she moved to Maplecroft on French Street, where she lived until her death on June 1, 1927. Her funeral was held in the home.

“We’ll have a little cake for Miss Lizzie,” said Lee Ann Wilber, manager of the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast.

Wilber said she’ll host about six guests overnight to celebrate Lizzie’s birth. On Sunday, a horror writer’s club will celebrate Lizzie’s birthday with cake and a talk.

The public is welcome to visit the home from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours are given on the hour. The cost is $12.50 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for kids ages 7 to 15.

If that’s not enough Lizzie for a day, visitors can also tour the Fall River Historical Society, 451 Rock St., from 1 to 5 p.m. to view Borden artifacts. Or, take a trip to Oak Grove Cemetery and follow the arrows to the Borden gravesite.

For the anniversary of the murders, The Herald News will publish a story in its Life section on Sunday, Aug.3, recipes in RSVP on Thursday, July 31, and video of all Lizzie’s favorite haunts — not literally of course.

    Paranormal Investigators of Southern Arizona

    Thursday, July 10th, 2008

    psychic

Last night PISA, the Paranormal Investigators of Southern Arizona, had a blog radio show interviewing Richard Senate about his new book on Lizzie Borden, Shocking Psychic Solutions: The Lizzie Borden Case.

Senate played the “Andrew was a mean old man” card, and characterized Abby as unintelligent, without friends, and a sad woman. I think at one point he even says that Abby and Andrew slept in separate bedrooms. He made many mistakes in his assumptions of the people and the circumstances surrounding the case. He says he has been studying the Borden murders since 1997.

You may notice a strange telling of Emma’s whereabouts during the crime and her return to Fall River that evening. I can’t tell where he gets his ideas from, but he does say the trial transcript is available for free from the “state of Massachusetts.” Well, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts does not provide this document, I do, and was the first to do so online at LizzieAndrewBorden.com. I am assuming he got the transcript from my site, but he does not cite it in his book.

    Paranormal Investigators of Southern Arizona
The Paranormal Investigators of Southern Arizona (P.I.S.A.) are a team of paranormal investigators aimed to assist anyone who may have paranormal activities in their residence or business. Our goal is to help our clients deal with the issues surrounded by living with a haunting, including educating about the paranormal and using certain techniques to ease the psychological impact of living with a ghost. P.I.S.A. blends scientific investigative procedures with a new age approach. We believe that the feelings and impressions that make up a haunting are just as important as the documented evidence from our professional equipment. For the person dealing with a haunting, on an everyday basis, all they have is their impression of their experiences . It is important for us to understand both aspects of the investigation, including these experiences. For this purpose, some of our members are “psychic sensitive” as well as trained to use our professional field equipment. P.I.S.A. investigates through skeptical eyes. We believe that many “paranormal” experience can be “debunked” through practical deduction. We also understand that if one does live in a haunted environment, it can cause anxiety and other psychological issues. In the event, that we find proof that a house or business is haunted, we make every effort to make sure that our clients are armed with knowledge and coping techniques.

    Lizzie Borden Babysitter?

    Monday, July 7th, 2008

It is hard to imagine young Lizzie Borden (before the murder of her father and stepmother) babysitting anyone’s children. But according to author Borden Davis, who penned the recent Silent Brand, she did that very thing—-babysat his father.

    bioimage

In a press release for the book, appears the following biographical paragraph:

Borden Davis was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He graduated from Bridgeton Academy in Maine and the Bishop Lee Theatre School in Boston. He moved to California and graduated from the Pasadena Playhouse. After acting for several years, he went into the insurance industry and successfully marketed insurance to agents throughout the United States. He was appointed as an insurance advisor for life and health to the California Senate. At the end of the eighteen hundreds, Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her mother and father with an axe. There was doubt, but she was acquitted. She actually babysat the author’s father before the event. She gave his father the middle name of Borden. The author’s name is Clinton Borden Davis Jr.

    Lizzie Borden’s Complete Astro Profile

    Monday, July 7th, 2008

    lizzie-borden

TopSynergy.com has posted Lizzie Borden’s complete Astro Profile, including her natal chart, relationship profile, general characteristics, approach to life, inner motivation, interests and abilities, drive and ambition, growth and expansion, challenges, creativity originality & imagination, and generalational influences.

Thing is, all this is based on her birth time as 9:46am. I am not sure where they got that info as it has never been published before, nor did birth certificates recorded at the records office from 1860 list it. Perhaps it is a guess? The City Clerk for the city of Fall River informed me by phone just now that Lizzie’s record does not include a time of birth, and that the practice of recording this info in this city didn’t start until the 1940s, she guessed.

Regardless, the profile is a fascinating read, whether you buy into any of it or not. Enjoy this one!

    Two Lizzie Borden B&B evps

    Monday, July 7th, 2008

    Monsterquest

MonsterQuest recently visited the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast and televised their findings. They didn’t find much, in fact, hardly anything at all. However, Mid-Atlantic Paranormal Research has posted two of the EVPs that were taken by Al Rauber for that show.

    According to their website,

EVPs are recordings of anomalous voices often said to be the voices of the dead. They are not heard during the time of the recording, but are heard during playback. It is not certain that these voices are indeed the voices of the deceased since the true origin of them is unknown, but they remain to be one of the more fascinating forms of documented paranormal activity to date.

The files listed below are the best EVPs we have captured so far and they are genuine. They have not been altered in any way to ensure the true experience of the listener. What you will hear is how these recordings were heard upon the original time of playback.

    You can hear them here

    And here:

    File
Lizzie Borden House- Fall River, MA: This evp has been personally provided with permission for use on our website by fellow investigator and friend Al Rauber. This EVP was featured on the Monsterquest Episode on The History Channel. This clip contains two voices captured seconds apart in Lizzies Room of Lizzie Borden House. You will hear “Soooo…” early on and towards the end the other voice is saying “Are You Mad?”

    File
Lizzie Borden House- Fall River, MA: This evp has been personally provided with permission for use on our website by fellow investigator and friend Al Rauber. In response to “who made the mirror move?” (pertaining to when filming for Ghost Stories two years ago, a mirror in a locked hutch moved on its own) Al got the answer “Asa”. Al later discovered after referencing the history of the home that an Asa Gifford lived in the house during the end of the 1800′s. *TURN UP VOLUME*
