Lizzie Borden’s Maplecroft is Getting a FaceLift
Lizzie Borden’s Maplecroft, the home she and her sister Emma purchased following Lizzie’s acquittal of the double murder of Andrew and Abby Borden, is getting a facelift, both inside and out.
We previously showed you the removal of the DirectTV dish, the scraping away of the former owner’s name and business from the front window, and the removal of the hideous statuary that was under the rhododendron bush in the east yard.
Now the old house is getting a new paint job, courtesy of the new owner. Using sophisticated methods of paint comparison, and after heat blasting the wood to determine the home’s original colors, Maplecroft has begun the exterior transformation that will make it as close to Lizzie’s house as possible.
Interestingly, the house will be two-toned, with a lighter buff upper story and a darker green lower. There are very few houses in Fall River painted this way, so it will be sure to be an eye-catcher!
Here are some images of the progress. Please note that this painting is NOT completed yet, trim and shutters are still to be added.
