Here's to the bright New Year
And a fond farewell to the old;
Here's to the things that are yet to come
And to the memories that we hold.

As I sit here on New Year's eve, I am reminded of other New Years gone by. My family celebrated the coming of the new year by gathering together and playing board games—all while munching away at a tremendous smorgasbord created by yours truly (dips, chips, cheese, shrimp, sliced meats, olives, nuts). We played "Sorry", "Probe", and "Masterpiece" until close to midnight (we lived on the East Coast) and then would watch on television as the ball dropped at Times Square. My father, an early riser, would soon be in bed while my mother and siblings broke out another game—either "Monopoly" or "Risk" if we were feeling highly competitive. My brother and I tried to watch the New Years arrive in each of the three time zones, but somehow couldn't make it to the west coast celebration. Our family is smaller these days, mom and dad have both passed on and my brothers have long since scattered to various parts of the country. But I often remember those New Years family parties fondly and hope that you and yours are also making some great memories this season.

As an update: the Lizzie Borden Society Forum continues to grow. We now have 128 members. Please stop by and see us sometime. Introduce yourselves and stay for tea! Some of you have joined but have never logged on to the forum. While levels of participation will vary from member to member, I had the thought that some of you may have forgotten your log in information or had changed email addresses. If anyone who receives this message would like to be given a new password, please email me and I will do so.

I invite all members to share a bit of information about yourself under the "Stay To Tea" section of the forum. For first time posters, this might make you feel more confident to join in the other discussion areas once you have that first post under your belt.

The rules were simple: answer ALL THREE questions correctly to be given a chance to win. If more than one entry had the correct answers to all three questions, two winners would be selected to receive the grand prize.The questions:
