The Hatchet was in print from February 2004 to December 2013.

We published authors from all over the world, each with their own take on the Borden murder case, their own perspective on life and history. We were honored to have published some of the very best in historical research.

Our fact-checker, Kat Koorey (yes, we are related), was doggedly precise with our authors in order to insure that we were publishing the true history, and not just repeating the myths of the past.

The fiction pieces were, of course, less scrutinized, but proof-reading and attention to illustrative detail was ever-present.

We learned a lot from the authors who graced our pages and we hope that by finally making the content available to you here that we are furthering your enjoyment of the case and all that is Victorian Fall River.

We lost so many of our great scholars and writers over the years: Harry Widdows, William Schley-Ulrich, Neilson Caplain, Joe Carlson, Richard Behrens. They were true friends in every sense of the word. Lizzie Borden turned out to be quite the matchmaker and those of us who have been interested in the case for decades now bequeath to you, dear reader, our considerable research. May you use it to further your understanding of this most enigmatic of whodunits.
