You are hereby cordially invited to a virtual Halloween Costume Bash, here on the Forum!

Time: Starting now
Guests: Attend as yourself or anyone from the past/present/future; anyone may accompany you
Bring: Your choice of edibles! :alcohol:

(If food includes poison ingredients, please also bring clean-up materials as may be needed)

Attire: Costumes and/or masks requested; may include clues or appropriate concealed weaponry

Taste Level: Questionable is cheerfully accepted

Please do attend! “The Bash” consists of your postings to this thread. ALL are most welcome, including spectral presences, etc.

***No disrespect to historical victims is intended. This event is entirely tongue-in-cheek.

--I'm coming as an 1892 version of Lead Prosecutor Hosea Knowlton.
--My costume is that of a merciful but avenging "Spirit of Consequences." I'm wearing white, flowing robes, and have in one hand the heavy scales of Justice. I'm masking my real identity with a British court wig of long white curls, but keeping my mournful expression (clear of Halloween makeup), as I feel this is the most appropriate attitude toward this 'heart-wrenching case.'
--I'm bringing Irish whiskey to tempt Bridget with so that she will testify in line with the prosecution. I've also brought a helpful reminder card for her, printed with the words "I could not tell you."
--I'm also bringing some morphine for myself in case the defense decides to have Lizzie testify at trial (I can't go through what I did at the Inquest without chemical help).

Or, I might be attending as my own descendant of the year 3021. I'm bringing a then-current version of a computer laptop. You see, it will require actual proof to get those present to believe my ancestor spent hours on a forum discussing Hatchets vs Blood Spatters (thanks to Kat for the inspiration here).

Oh, wait, wait, Bridget has just showed up, which makes me, in my Knowlton version, very happy. She seems older, and has a guilty look on her face…she looks quite ill, and is mumbling something about having a confession to make. I think I spy a wedding ring! Yes, it’s on the hand clutching a very large crucifix in front of her. But whom is she protecting herself against? There are no vampire party guests, yet. Just as I, Knowlton, lumber over, offering a glass of whiskey, a fierce canine lunges—that must be Lizzie! for who could mistake those eyes? Snarling and snapping, she catches a mass of my white wig curls in her teeth. Over in the corner I see the Emma-dog, wringing her paws…

Partly but I'll give you the first answer: Agnes Moorehead played the mother of Elizabeth Montgomery in "Bewitched" and Elizabeth Montgomery played Lizzie Borden in the movie "The Legend of Lizzie Borden" BTW Elizabeth Montgomery was a sixth cousin once removed, of Lizzie Borden in real life!!!!

Agnes has another tie to Lizzie Borden though...

Lizzie was friends with Nance O'Neil whose husband was Alfred Hickman, and Hickman hung out with Henry Irving (theatre folk) who was friends with Walter Sikkert who is Patricia Cornell's Ripper suspect!

Ok, I brought a present to the party. Agnes Moorehead was a great radio actress before she entered TV, here is a performance on the radio show "Suspense" where she plays Lizzie Borden. I know--some facts are wrong but it is worth a listen. I LOVE old-time radio and have a collection of hundreds of episodes of Suspense, Escape, Lights Out, etc.

Old radio shows are wonderful. You must use your imagination, they were suspenseful and entertaining without using profanity, an all-around great medium of entertainment. I don't know what role Agnes played in my picture...I just Googled Agnes Moorehead and found one I liked.
There are no more ties between her and Lizzie-1. Agnes played Elizabeth Montgomery's mother on Bewitched and Elizabeth played Lizzie in the movie, Lizzie was a second cousin to Elizabeth Mongomery, and 2. Agnes played Lizzie on the "Suspense" radio show. There was a second "Suspense" episode called "Goodbye miss Lizzie Borden" starring Paula Winslowe done in 1955 if you look that one up on YouTube. The Agnes Moorehead one was performed in 1952, a mere 60 years after the murders.
