Ok. Now I am confused. What did I do to this person? If I did sorry. I'll just stay off the board for awhile. Besides, working alot of hours anyway.

Oh, you didn't do anything Snooks....we have a good idea of who this person was. She does this...tries to stir up trouble among the members and cause hard feelings by posting false information intended to get people upset. She's a wacko. And if by some strange coincidence it's NOT her...then this person is STILL a wacko! People like that aren't even worth expending the energy to get upset by the stupid things they say!

I know what you mean about working a lot of hours! Don't wear yourself out!

Working about 60 hours. And it didn't help much either that Alabama beat LSU in the bowl game and we got the contract to print the shirts. I've seen so many "Roll tide" designs I'm beginnig to wonder if I'm orginally from Alabama instead of Wisconsin.

Look at it this way...you have a job ! Down here in South Florida I see so MANY people who are unemployed and destitute. It helps me to remember how fortunate I am to have a decent job, a good apartment, health insurance, and plenty of food in the refrigerator....plus we are both in relatively good health. I'm sure the long hours will eventually let up...in the meantime you are probably making extra money!

Yup Sally, you got that right. I'm glad to have a job.Well, don't know about the health part; mine is lousy. But I do have the V.A. taking care of that, so I am blessed with that kind of medical insurance. My extra money comes in the way of my job. I have a military disabilaity check that takes care of my monthly bills, and the work check is crazy cash. So you are right, SallyG, I am blessed, God has been good.

What an interesting thread. I have heard about the "last imprint on the retina" theory before too...however, I come from Italian heritage, and I've also heard another reason why mafia hits often shoot the eyes of the victim. My grandfather (long time deceased now, and came here from Italy when he was a young boy) told me that if you killed someone and ALSO shot at the face, (especially the eyes) it was sending a message; this person REALLY deserved it, or there was a vendetta that was being squared away because....No eyes meant the family could NOT have an open casket at the funeral.

I'm not sure if this is purely an Italian custom or not, I only know that in my family, open casket is VERY important. You don't just gaze upon the visage of your deceased relative, you kiss them. As a child, I lost a cousin to a car accident on high school graduation night. I sat through six viewings; it is customary to give appoint a trusted person to receive envelopes from mourners---I didn't know then that they contained money. My father was the keeper of the envelopes at my cousin's wake and so our family had to be there. This was in 1971, and I remember watching a number of older women run their fingers thru my cousin's hair, kiss him on the cheek, and yes, photographs were taken. I found the whole thing bizarre and very upsetting.

Only in the weird world of Italian crime syndicates would there be two degrees of murdering someone...one in which you leave the face intact, and one in which you not only kill the person, but cause additional grief to the family by ruining the face and making a final viewing very difficult or even impossible.

If anyone remembers, in the original Godfather, Don Corleone talks to the undertaker about his son, Sonny (played by James Caan) who has been blasted to bits and is a mess. "I want you to use all your abilities, all your skills, everything you have, and make my boy presentable to his mother"...those aren't the exact words, but its something close to that.

It is my understanding that Abby and Andrew Borden were displayed with open caskets. Does anyone besides me find that odd? Perhaps it was the accepted custom, and I guess Abby's face would have still been intact, but what how in the world was Andrew presented? Did they cover the part of his face that didn't get mangled? Were there any death photos taken of them? Again, I"m a newbie, so advanced apologies if this has already been covered...thanks!
