Ginger Toms: A Tale of 2 Kitties

Over the holidays, I spent several days at my occasional job as a Cat Nanny. So, am posting some pix for the feline fans.
The "boys" are named "Prince Edward" & "Sir Thomas". (Really!) a.k.a. Eddy & Thomas.
Eddy had been an incredibly spoiled "only child" until this past summer, when Thomas appeared in Eddy's backyard sanctuary.
Thomas had been abandoned. He was skinny as a rake, chunks of fur missing, fleas, and to touch him gave you a handful of dirt. Eddy's "mother" fed Thomas for months until finally taking him in when the weather turned colder. Now, Thomas is fixed, happy, & absolutely gorgeous.
Here is Eddy on "his bed" & then the "unwelcome intruder"...

"How
dare you?"
"Why is this guy everywhere all of a sudden...
grumble, grumble..."

Oh my goodness, Tina-Kate - what beautiful cats!!! They look like identical twins. How in the world do you tell them apart?

They sure DO look alike!! They seem to be getting along quite well, that's always nice! They are quite purrrrty!

Eddie has much more delicate features and is white on his muzzle. He's also slightly lighter in color.
Thomas is more masculine (looks a bit like a lion). Thomas also has white "socks" and a white tummy.
They both like attention, but Thomas is the more demanding & very cuddly. Both have that happy-go-lucky nature that ginger toms always seem to have.
Hard to tell as there are no humans in the shots, but these are BIG & tall boy cats. Both are around 13-14 lbs.
They get along OK, but do have their moments. I had to break up fights at least once every day!

Oh, my goodness - they have quite a few differences!
They are so handsome. Thanks Tina-Kate for pointing out the differences and posting these photos.

I like that thick chunky body!
Thanks for the pics!
I just posted our Bushrod on the other topic about raw food. Then I see these guys! I love red boys- they're the best!

You're welcome.
They're both so cute I thought people would enjoy seeing them.
I gave their "mother" a set of prints as a belated Xmas gift & she was really pleased---she hadn't yet got around to taking pix since she's had the two of them inside.
I love these ginger guys too. I've had 2 of my own over the years---Leo, who was short-haired like the two guys above, and Mr. Tigger, who was semi-persian. I have more Mr Tigger stories than I do about any other cat; he was quite the comic character.
I'll be a cat nanny again for 2 weeks in Feb. I love doing it...best job there is.

It was so nice to *meet* them- I had heard so much about them.

Here's another you've heard lots about, Kat--
Summer, 1992: Mr Tigger squashes himself into a shoebox & succeeds!
He was very entertaining...

Thanks for the photos Tina-Kate. I love cats. What a life cats lead, huh? Got to admire their self sufficiency. I think I told this funny cat/dog joke before, but here it goes again:
"this is the difference between Cats and Dogs.......
The Dog says, "wow this person feeds me, pets me, loves me.......he must be God?"
The Cat says, "wow this person feeds me, pets me, loves me.......I must be God?"

Then there's the old Seinfeld joke: "If you were an alien coming down to a planet, and you saw one life form, and then another life form coming up behind it and picking up it's poo...who would you assume was in charge?"

I just have to show off my little sweetie pie. If she would be a person she would be Liz Taylor. When I went through the pound fourteen years ago to find a kitten I was struck by her eyes. I've never seen such big eyes on a cat. The picture doesn't do her justice. Her name is Chanel.

Oh, how sweet!
She has such gorgeous eyes.

That's a nice looking cat!
Is she black and white or blue and white?

In breeders's terms, there are hues of red, blue, lilac etc. in animal fur used to determine specific color in breeds.
Kat comes from this background, so I think she's asking if your kitty has a bluish tint to her fur.

No KAT: That's a wig. You know, like the pink one Britney wears, only blue.
She looks like a kiitten ANGEL? It is so difficult to know what they are thinking by the look on their faces. Cute....

Sorry- I couldn't tell from the color on my monitor if she was blue and white- ie: bluishgray and white-TK is right about my query.
Green eyes? I was also wondering if her eyes are always dilated? My cat Ah-So's eyes are most often dilated- it freaks the vet out because it can be a sign of stroke- but hers have always been that way- they rarely contract- it makes her eyes look bigger.

She is fourteen years old. She's always looked like that. She's very small and dainty.

She's very black. Her eyes are green. She has that Charlie Chaplin moustache, but she is still very feminine.

I'm back with the monsters for another stretch.
The other night, Thomas---the rodent!---would not leave me alone to get to sleep. He lay on my chest, licking my nose. I shooed him away. Turned over & he climbed on my side & started licking my hair...ick!
They are GREAT at being alarm clocks tho (hoping for breakfast). Thomas does the above, plus tunnelling under the covers & anything else that might get me out of bed.
My cat Mr Tigger used to knock things onto the floor...like glasses of water! I would jump up out of bed & yell, "BAD!" He was probably the smartest cat I had.
My cat Ben would gently pat my face for a while. If that failed, he would let his legs go limp & collapse into my head so I got a whole face full of cat!
Does anyone else have wake-up strategies their animals have used?

My dogs don't wake me up, but the second my alarm goes off I have eight dog eyes staring intensely at me at the side of the bed (at four in the morning) until I sit up because they know they're going to get a dog biscuit.

I can't imagine. It's enough to deal with a single cat staring in your eyes the second you wake up!

My Black cat, Mariah, was always fed first thing in the morning, the alarm would go off, I would get up and immediately go feed her. Because if I didn't she'd follow me around wrapping herself around my legs. It got to be such a ritual, that if for any reason my alarm failed to go off, she'd be there within 5-8 minutes, on my covered head doing her happy cat dance! She's saved me from over sleeping many times through the years!

I just LOVE the pictures. Of course I'm a cat lover. I just love the way they are & you got some really good prints. My Celina was up for adoption also & when we were looking she was meowing at us. When we walked by she kept meowing louder & louder. So guess who came home with us. Now if she doesn't see us for awhile she'll just sit & howl until we talk to her. She has got to be the most verbal & affectionate cat we've ever owned.

I just saw the second page of this post. Shelley, I was hysterical seeing a cat that looked like it was actually smiling. I'll tell you though I can't believe the cat didn't go after that guinea pig. wow, talk about trust!

Ellen, all of your pics are adorable! However, must say I favor pics number 10 and 12. The Guinea Pig is just so cute! I have always been a cat lover. I love their independent, take you or leave you, ways.

There's something extra wacky about male yellow cats. I miss having a cat now but with two hyper terriers, the poor cat would not have a chance. here's one for dog lovers
