Does anybody who wrote the Lizzie Borden poem? You know, the lizzie bordon gave her mother forty whacks and when she saw what she done gave her father 41?
I know it came out right after she was aquitted or there abouts, I was just curious as to who wrote it.

The "Forty Whacks" doggerel, so far as I know, snock, was written by an extremely popular author (credited with more verse than Miss Lizzie could shake an axe at) by the name of....
"Anonymous"
Nobody knows for sure...

I have a few books of poetry I took out on loan from the public library, they have a wonderful selection of poetry, and the Lizzie poem turned up in a book containing poetry by Shakespear, Browning, Keats, and other famous poets. I was so surprised that poem would show up in a book of "fine poetry"

. It's called " A Second Treasury of Favorites". Edited by Ralph S. Woods copyright 1950 and its on page 165. Lizzie has always liked to move in the best circles

I don't think any one with 200 posts is a NEWBIE and I think you might consider taking some time off to read the scads of material on the case and I also think you just like the "smilies" we have here.
