Civil War Living History Program
Civil War Living History Program
Thursday, May 20th 6:30 PM.
Mr. David Jennings and Hallie Larkin of Southcoast Historical Associates return to the Somerset Public Library.
The life of the common soldier during the Civil War and the role of women during this time period are the focal points of this 19th century presentation. Using replica firearms and original artifacts, you will learn what it was like to be a soldier during the War Between the States. The role of women during the Civil War era will also be presented. Learn about their sacrifices and the contribution of women to the war effort through Sanitary Fairs held throughout the North. A description of Victorian mourning customs, clothing and how society expected women to behave will be explained.
Many of you will remember Southcoast Historical Associates presentations on the 17th century fur trade and 18th century daily life. These programs are fun and educational, appropriate for the whole family.
