Legend Ending
This is the creepiest ending to any movie ever—the very end of the 1975 made for TV movie The Legend of Lizzie Borden, starring the great Elizabeth Montgomery. I present it to you here for your enjoyment.

It is a highly effective ending, yet I find the trailer to be far creepier. Many thanks for sharing both!!! I wish some cable channel would obtain the rights to this movie, then repeat it at regular intervals, so it came become an even bigger, and most deserved, cult hit. Also, it’s a shame that younger audiences only know Elizabeth Montgomery from “Bewitched,” if that. It’s also a shame that there are no other film dramatizations of the Borden murders. One can only imagine the relish with which a young Bette Davis would have bitten into the role, New Englander that she was! I suppose Hollywood has never been big on parricide, certainly not during its years of self-censorship. It’s one thing to kill one’s spouse, as Bette did many times onscreen, yet quite another to take the life of the one who gave you life– still, I’m sure BD would have gladly accepted the role, had it been available.

Is it creepy because just as the tension builds to a climax, the film editor’s name appears on the right hand side of the screen? Just kidding….
Yes, the house being all wrong was what struck me as all wrong about the film. But it still is the only real Lizzie Borden film we have so far. And much of it is pretty good.
