Before and after-- How did Lizzie spend Christmas

Post by snokkums »

With Christmas being tomarrow, I started wondering what holidays were like in the Borden household was like when Andy and Abby were like. I mean, with Andrew being so tight with his money, did he ever get gifts and such, put up a tree. Or did he think that putting up a tree and decorations were a wasted of money?

After his death, I started thinking about how Lizzie and Emma would spend it. To me, with Emma being more of the reserved one, she might not go out all the way. Maybe a few decorations and a few presents, but nothing real flashy.

But Lizzie, I think she would have gone all out. Decorations and a tree and a whole bunch of presents.

Today I pictured Lizzie going carroling at Christmas! I don't know why, but I saw her as going around the nicer neighborhoods- in her younger days- with her church group, singing and having hot cocoa. I don't picture much celebration in her home on Second Street, but hanging with her friends- maybe the Holmes.

I think Lizzie might have really bought some gifts after the death of her parents. Before then, she might have been alittle tight.

Candy

I read somewhere that after the murders she bought lots of candy for orphans. How sweet.

TK that is priceless! Thanks!

Well, why couldn't Lizzie go carroling? She liked to be out of the house. And church groups might do that to at least acknowledge the Season. And it's free. And people give you hot cider or cocoa or whatever and it makes a person feel part of a group and wanted. Lizzie probably was somewhat nice in ways we don't know about.

I agree. I can certainly see Lizzie in the church choir and caroling prior to the murders. But in the years afterward, I think not.

In the years after her acquittal she got new friends-
And I don't quite picture her carroling then- I picture her going to New York or Boston on shopping sprees! :santa:

BTW: Hi!!
