Benjamin had some interesting insights early in the case (noted in this forum), but suddenly stopped appearing in newspaper articles before the inquest and I've not found his name post-inquest.

Thank you. I did a search. So evidently he was an ex police officer turned reporter, among other things. But he was not a reporter at this time. Do we know why Bridget would have been speaking with him?

In the chaos at the Borden house post-murders, I doubt Bridget knew who she was talking to at most anytime. As you know the scene was unorganized and folks were coming and going.

I think Buffinton fancied himself to be a Fall River version of Sherlock. I just wish he made more statements to the newspapers to fuel our imaginations!

Resurfacing this thread to see if there is something of interest here after what Inspector said about the Christmas testimony...

Inspector - per the Knowlton papers, the defense requested a copy of Bridget's inquest testimony a couple times in the weeks before the trial. Pillsbury and Knowlton kept tossing the request back and forth like a hot potato. I don't think either of them knew where their own copy of the inquest was. Robinson is clearly referencing a copy of Bridget's inquest during his cross examination at the trial, so it seems clear that the prosecution did provide him with a copy. So we know that Robinson had a copy in June 1893 and now we don't know where a copy might exist. I think its a very safe bet that a copy is sitting in the current iteration of Robinson's law firm in Massachusetts.

As far as the prosecution's copy (s) of Bridget's inquest. In the Knowlton-Pearson Correspondence book, Frank Knowlton (Hosea's son) mentions that his father probably destroyed his copies of the inquest transcripts. I know that is borderline hearsay, so if this is a topic you want to nail down, I can skim thru the book and find a more accurate description and source.
