Thank you, one and all, for the thoughtful greetings. (I'm not so sure about that pop-up from "The Management" that reminds me once again how old I'm getting.)
I had an early phone call from a friend who is (as the Brits like to say) a little bit "past it." I had expected her to wish me a happy birthday, but she went on and on about all the other people she knows who have birthdays this week. She never mentioned mine (and, believe me, neither did I). Alas, I have a feeling she probably DID call to wish me a happy birthday but lost her train of thought. That happens a lot these days...So sad, really.

Wow! As some of you may know, 2005 hasn't been the best year I've ever had, but it's wonderful to receive good wishes from so many great people. I did have a most happy birthday, I can assure you. (Sherry, you are 'way too kind.)
