Daytona Racetrack!

Monday, May 10th, Stef and I went up to Daytona to take the racetrack tour and see the NASCAR Museum and view the IMAX NASCAR 3-D movie! Whew that movie is really something! The cars are life-sized the screen is so big! And the noise is life-sized as well! We took a tram tour of the track and we were actually being driven over about a quarter of the actual racetrack! We drove to the pits and past the garages. It was like a golf-cart train- we were put in the front seats. The driver would stop at certain places and we could get out and take pictures. Stef took these. Maybe by the font color you can tell who we root for! I had been to The Daytona 500 overnight in a van in the center area in February, 1978...the year Richard Petty didn't win (we were camped with Petty fans). It was drizzly but not too chilly- maybe 60 and wet in that Februray night but by mid-day race day, the sun was shining and we all dried out. That tour last week was great! And the museum displays were wonderful! It's a huge family sport and there were lots of familys there. The children were riveted!
