Dr. Dedrick or Dr. Dolan, who to believe.

Dr. Dolan testified at the Preliminary, p112, about his arrival at the Borden house:

"Q. Where were you when you got any information from anybody as to the occurrances at this house?
A. In front of Andrew Borden’s house.
Q. Was that the first you heard of it, there?
A. Yes Sir.
Q. Did you get any information causing you to go there?
A. No Sir."

Then at the Trial, p909:

"Q. (By Mr. Adams.) I do not understand, Doctor, that you received any message to take you to this house on the day of the tragedy?
A. No, sir.
Q. But you were driving to your patients and going by this house?
A. That is it; yes, sir.
Q. And saw something which led you to get out and go in?
A. Yes, sir."

Dr. Dedrick in the Witness Statements, p22, says different:

“I was going on a call to Whipple street, when I saw Dr. Dolan drive along Second street like mad, and stop at Mr. Borden’s."

If Dedrick is correct why would Dolan be driving "like mad" along Second Street if he (Dolan) had no knowledge yet of the crimes.?

Not terribly important but yet another one of those weird contradictions which are throughout the case.

Is there a time line for when Dr. Dedrick saw Dr. Dolan driving "live mad" to the Borden house?

I think Dolan was coming up Second Street from the south, a ways away. Maybe he saw some commotion and drove like mad to go see?
I think we know from where he was coming, don't we?

Not exactly but it refers to the morning of the 4th. Dedrick's passage is from Harrington's witness statements dated Oct. 1, 1892. I assume Dedrick told Harrington this on the 4th. I don't believe Dolan left the house at any time that morning and returned.

"Dr. Albert C. Dedrick. -I was going on a call to Whipple street, when I saw Dr. Dolan drive along Second street like mad, and stop at Mr. Borden’s. When I returned, there was a large crowd there, and I went in. Mr. Borden’s left hand, which rested on his hip, was smeared with blood. I called Dr. Bowen’s attention to it. ..."

It makes me wonder if either Dedrick or Harrington got it wrong and it really was Dr. Bowen driving like mad not Dr. Dolan.

That was my first thought, because there was that note about Bowen driving fast in the Knowlton Papers.
And he may have driven fast to return to the house after sending the telegram- so a timeline question is a good one.

But do we know where Dolan started from?
