This is silly , but, in the lizzie borden sourcebook, they had the swansea spelled swansey. So which is it: Swansea, or Swansey?
And also in the book they gave andrew's age as 69. I thought he was 71.

Have you seen old maps? They often spell place names differently- I don't know why.

I've read the name "Swanzy" too, so you can add that to your list.
Maybe they are bad spellers or maybe back then they didn't mind bad spellling so much or couldn't spell very well. I think Swansea was spelled Swanzy because that was how it was pronounced.

I noticed in old newspapers like from 1850's or so, that Woods Hole on Cape Cod was really called Woods Holl.
Somewhere between now and then Holl became Hole.
