Hello, just thought I'd introduce myself.

I've been fascinated with the Borden case since I was a child. My aunt and uncle lived close to Fall River, and sometimes when I visited them they would drive me to the Borden house and park across the street, and tell me all about the crime. Many were the nights my cousins and I would stay up late scaring each other with threats that Lizzie was going to come in the night and hack one of us up. Yeah, maybe I was kind of a morbid kid...Still, I never lost interest. I'm glad to have found this group and look forward to learning more about the case from all of you!

Yes, welcome KT72, though not sure weather I should be adding my 2 cents to the pot.

I am new myself and been aboard only a couple of days, but can't seem to shut myself up. Beware, it may happen to you. Believe me, you will learn alot. These people know how many buttons there were on the blue cord dress, and to me that's a complement. I find that some are kind, some are bold, but all in all a great bunch. So, step in front of me in line and go for it.

Hi! My name is Ben, and I am just one of the staff members for the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast. Between lee-ann and myself, we try to keep the forum up-to-date on what's happening in Fall River.

I got the pleasure of meeting a group of the members of this site (Kat, Stef, Harry, etc) and they are all awesome people! This site is filled with so much history, and welcome people from all over, and you will surely enjoy yourself here!

Welcome!

Ben

Hello Kat: Yes, the Big Dans Rape Case was a rape of a women in a bar in New Bedford back in the middle 80's. Several Portuguese men were charged with raping the women as the rest of the bar cheered them on. At least that's how it came out in the press. It was big news across the country, which not only placed New Bedford on the map for a while, but placed the spot light back to Fall River since the trail was here. Many thought the rape occurred in Fall River but it was in fact in New Bedford. Fairhavenguy probably knows more about it than I do.

But, there was a good movie made on it, staring Jodie Foster. She won an Academy Award for that movie. It received good reviews. The girl who cried rape moved to Florida then was killed in a car accident, I think??? There was alot of controversy about/and in the Portuguese community as some played the race card. But, of course that was not true, though some could argue that.

Okay, thanks. I remember that.
1980's tho, right?
I take it "Big Dan's" was a pool hall/bar?

I know you told me that your answer belonged elsewhere.
But did everyone know this case here, since no one asked but me?
