So summertime is here--without a doubt.

here's some new verse i started based on an impression i had while watering flowers in a round rock flower bed.

SUMMERTIME

Something strange in my head --
Like a musical chant --
Carefully repeating itself as it gently lays a heavy burden low.
It works its spell on me.
I've heard it many times before --
Usually when walking through wide open spaces --
In the afternoon when the sun starts to bake --
This dreamlike carnival whirling around me.
What's this exotic stuff in my head?
Too thick to think through,
I feel it instead.
Too rich to eat --
Its light in my eyes is intimate.
And softly, tenderly true.
How profound this gauze-layered peripheral haze --
It hums and burns through me --
Silk liquid jade green fire rains around me.
Through this haze I see the summer flowers in their round pots --
And in the sun --
The Lord's smile --
And the shining wise eyes of summertime.
