If any of you Bordenphiles, armchair detectives, and/or true crime writers out there would like to contribute to
The Hatchet, please feel free to submit you work for possible publication.
If you have an idea for an article that you would like to pass our way before you begin to write it, please contact us and we can let you know if it might be something the readers of
The Hatchet might be interested in.
The details for what we pay for submissions are located at this link.
http://www.hatchetonline.com/HatchetOnl ... ssions.htm
We are moving the submission deadline up for the next issue to April 1st. The next issue of
The Hatchet is due out on May 4th.
Hope to hear from you!

Arnold R. Brown's 'last chapter' was published 15 years ago.
I might be willing to send you something on it, but not until late summer.
Would you require PDF format? Word? Ami Pro? Word Perfect? Text?
Would the author's copyright be restpected, or would you insist on editing?

If you are talking about an essay "about" the Brown theory, then I would be interested, of course. I can take Word, PDF, or rtf. I prefer Word.
Authors retain ownership of their work, but the writer's agreement posted on The Hatchet website states that the author will not republish their work for 6 months. After that, you can do what you will with your words.
All pieces are edited. All pieces are fact checked. As a scholarly magazine, we stand by the factual material in the articles as accurate (qutotations, etc.) but do not endorse the opinions of the authors.
A piece is edited for grammar and clarity. Only in rare cases is a work editied for content. When this happens, authors are consulted and must grant approval of the changes before printing. So if you don't like or approve of the edits, you can say so and we can figure something out.
The process of working with writers is an enriching one for both parties. It is a relationship to make the work better, not one in which the editor's views are enforced.
Feel free to contact some of my writers and ask them about the process. That is probably the best way you can get the lowdown on the editor/writer relationship at The Hatchet (Eugene Hosey, Denise Noe, Mark Amarantes, Mary Elizabeth Naugle, Harry Widdows, Annette Holba, Fritz Adilz).

Hey Stefani:
Just received the 3 issues, Vol. 2 number 1,2 and 3 of the "Hatchet" in color.
Very excited about this publication; great job, articles, photos, cover art.
This Lizzieac can't wait to sit with some cheese cake and a coffee and dive in. Vacation taken!
These magazines are landmark publications that will be as collectable as a Radin or Pearson in the future.
Job well done Stefani Koorey, very sumptuous.

You shouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched.
I would donate my fee as the prize to whoever could disprove Arnold Brown's solution (the killer of Abby and Andy was someone who did not live in that house and whose identity was shielded by Lizzie et alii; and that killer was Wm S. Borden). Proof in this case would be a conviction or another book that satisfactorily "proved" its case.
Nobody asked Pearson to prove Lizzie dunnit. Radin's theory was met with disbelieve, he couldn't prove it. No one asked for proof of Lincoln's claim that Lizzie dunnit (the tolerance shown her by the upper class may be they knew who really did it, but this info was kept hidden from a young girl). Sullivan couldn't prove Lizzie dunnit. Spiering couldn't prove Emma dunnit.
So what is left?

haha. you wouldn't think a call for articles would generate this, would you?
however, my respect for ray has only increased. i propose a "Consistency Award." i nominate ray.
this is partially humor, ray -- but seriously, you are an interesting individual in that your mind refuses to waver. it is an outstanding trait.

Coffee has been a part of my morning ritual for the last 37 years. Whether I was in high school, college, the army or now. I wake up, I make my bed, I turn on the coffee pot, I bring in the morning newspaper, I go to the bathroom, and finally I drink my coffee while reading my paper. During this time I don't watch tv, listen to the radio or talk to anyone. I read the paper and enjoy that first cup of coffee in the morning. I love the way coffee smells as it brews. Especially, on Saturdays when I don't have to work. Make my coffee strong with just a tad of cream and a spoonful of sugar. And a
New York Times too please
Wonder how Lizzie drank her coffee?

I had to quit coffee when I quit smoking, 1987. They went together in my mind. But I like to smell it freshly ground in the grocery store.

Mail a certified bank cashier's check with that amount to Stefanie (forum coordinator), payable to CASH. This will verify your claim of a reward. Else you will be guilty of vain boasts, promising and not delivering.
Since no one can be convicted of that crime, what
proof will be acceptable?
Will your word be your bond?

Since no court can ever try the persons involved (all dead by WW II), the proof would be another book that will outsell Arnold Brown's book within ten years of publication. The Court of Public Opinion.
Any other suggestions?

Have you mailed in your check to this forum (c/o Stefani?).
This will establish your offer as bonafide.
If not, why not? Are you just boasting? Your credibility is at stake.

First, use the "Preview" command to prevent such errors in posting.
And how much are YOU willing to offer as a reward? Show me the money.

Ray,
I can verify that Audrey is "bonafide" in her offer. You expect us to accept Brown's
THEORY on your 'word'...yet you do not seem to trust Audrey's 'word' ?
I agree with Angel.......CHILL. Relax. You are going to send yourself to an early grave with all the stress you are creating for your life. If we choose not to buy into Brown's idea...so be it...it should be no skin off of your nose. Honest. I have mentioned before that somewhere beneath your curmudgeoned exterior.......I just know there has to be some kind thoughts, words, and deeds.
Tracy...
