61 years before Lizzie allegedly took hatchet to hand and eliminated her father and stepmother, 18 year old Frankie Silver murdered her husband Charlie, with an axe and dismembered his body. His body parts are actually buried in 3 graves with separate tombstones. Unlike Lizzie she was hung.

I agree! I'm a Sharyn McCrumb fan, too -- although I've only read the ones featuring 'Elizabeth MacPherson'.

But I went right out to the library and borrowed The Ballad of Frankie Silver after reading those links. Thanks, Harry.
