Just in case y'all think that The North is a better place, think again. Here's a couple of pix I took of last night's snowstorm. Schools are closed, trees down, power lines across roads, etc. And it is supposed to be Spring. Ha!

Winter isn't over until Memorial Day, although early June frosts are not unusual. In 1985 we had frost every month, I had to scrape my windshield on July 12.

Perhaps this could be moved to Lizzie's Privy and entitled "Yes, it's Michigan"!

I'm originally from upstate PA, and I've been through a lot of May snows -- even as late as Memorial Day. June frost is only to be expected.
Now, of course, I live in Silicon Valley, where people are outraged when it dares to rain in May. Where roses bloom year-round. We're all going to hell, but oh it is worth it.

nice pictures, especially the first one. snow-laden foliage, wreath-like in the foreground -- nice. as for the reality of the weather, just wait for june.

Hey Kat: There's this funny commercial that plays up here on TV. I'm not sure, but I think it's a commercial for "Florida." Satire.......It shows these people on the beach. Then one tiny cloud, in a total blue sunny sky, moves across the sun for a couple of seconds throwing a shadow. Everyone on the beach begins to sigh and look up at the sky in disgust. Two young ladies siting in lounge chairs reading look at each other and say, "Yesterday was a much better day." Funny commercial.

It's no fair to gloat, Kat. But they are absolutely, positively lovely. Makes me homesick for The South. When we lived in Hotlanta, we would drive around just to see Dogwoods and Magnolias.

oh, that's beautiful with the white to almost black range of color, with the greens in between. nice work. have you experimented with that in photoshop with a bit more contrast? i like the black vs. white extreme it suggests -- is what i'm saying. i found one bloom on one of mine yesterday, and i thought of these you're taking. haven't done it yet, but it's inspiring to see yours.
