1 of the funniest things....

One of the funniest things that I think has ever happened to my family happened today!

My husband had a receptionist who worked in his office. She was a newer employee and the other women who worked in the office are very 'clique-ey' and have never been decent to her.... I thought she was very nice and had a wonderfully wicked sense of humor...

Well today was her last day... She had enough!

Thayne has a very elaborate sound system in the office and he is mighty proud of it... The music is piped in to all the rooms, reception areas, elevator, etc.

She loaded a burned CD into the thing and blasted the place with 'Take this job and shove it' and walked out.

Thayne came home and told me all about it and was a little more than put off with me when I threw my head back and laughed and clapped my hands at the very thought of it. I would have loved to have been there to see and hear it!

I would think something like that could be a very freeing experience!

That sounds like something that I could envision you doing, Audrey-- are it wasn't you in disguise?? ;-)
What a great story--she sounds like someone I 'd want to get to know.

While we're on "funny," I want to recommend the best seller Eats, Shoots & Leaves, the very amusing look at bad punctuation by Brit Lynne Truss. I resisted buying it for months, but I weakened yesterday, and I laughed out loud reading it on the subway - as you know, I read a lot on the subway.

Straight talk is the enemy of pretense! I wish her well!

How could that happen to such a perfect family? And how many receptionists are there, anyway?
In a small town, jobs are often scarce and people hang on to them, no matter what spit they have to put up with. But you're not like that.

As soon as I started reading your opening post, the TV started playing "Take This Job And Shove It!"
How weird is that?

J TOP - JOE... - Johnny Paycheck Lyrics - Take This Job and Shove It Lyrics

(Chorus:)
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
My woman done left and took all the reasons
I was working for
You better not try to stand in my way
As im a walking out the door.
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

Ive been workin in this factory
From now on fifteen years
All this time I watched my woman
Drowning in a pool of tears
And Ive seen a lot of good folk die
Who had a lot of bills to pay
I'd give the shirt right off of my back
If I had the nerve to say

(Chorus)

Well that foreman, hes a regular dog
The line boss, hes a fool
Got a brand new flat-top haircut
Lord, he thinks hes cool
One of these days, Im gonna blow my top
And that sucker, hes gonna pay
Lord I cant wait to see their faces
When I get up the nerve to say

(Chorus)

(Instrumental)

Take this job and shove it

Yes, Audrey, I can fully relate to that young lady who worked with your husband, and can only add, "Good for her."

After working at a job for a year, I knew I was not going to like it, and as the years went on it became worst and worst. It was not the work you understand, but the people I worked for and with.

Finally one day I called in sick and never went back. Sadly it took me 30 years to do it though. The very one thing I regret most in life....., staying with a job for the high wages and benifits.

What did Marlon Brando say, "I could have been somebody, I could have been a contender......?"

In my younger years I worked for others and I know how tough it can be.

But now? Ahhh... the joys of being self-employed! A few clicks on the mouse and I buy a stock and a day or two later a few more clicks and the stock is sold and the cash is in my account.

Ahhh... yes, life is good! :peanut5:

P.S. I just had to rub that in.
