I read a couple of post that suggested Rebello may have a few copies of His book left.
The post suggested to contact Him about the book.
How does one contact Him ?

When I change my Avatar, sometimes I don't see the change during that same on-line session- but I will see it the next time I log on. That might happen to you. I don't know.

Well, I looked at bookfinder.com (which I think Amazon now owns) and not one of the copies listed is less than $150.00. I didn't look at ABEBooks or Alibris, but I don't doubt the're as bad or worse. The irony is, the signed copy is the cheapest listed!

A first edition is listed on ABEBooks for $190, and at Alibris (same dealer from the looks of it) for $189.95. (I just looked.)

Wow, that picture that is supposedly Lizzie had me fooled. At first glance from afar, I would swear that was our Lizzie, but then the close up of course reveals that it is not. I guess there were quite a few women back then who had the same "look". Makes you wonder why alot of people said she looked masculine, when there were a whole slew of women back then that looked masculine.

Yes Rays: On speaking about Mr. Rebello and what he may have left out in his book, one must admit that it is implausible to assume "Past and Present" could contain everything...... I suppose what your real question is: what did he leave out intentionally or include by design to mislead or redirect the reader. To that I say nothing............. Of course you will need to hold a copy of Rebello's book in hand and injest its content with your mind before making an objective observation. But I have discussed Mr. Rebello's book with him many times and with every session I walk away with the belief that his endeavor was to record the facts as he found them. (though if you go to the end of the book you will find a small errata slip tipped in listing the mistakes that he did find.)

Though I have not read "Forty Whacks," I believe, from all the reviews I have read, that it is one of the best books on the Borden Murders.

One good book that is regularly overlooked is Robert Sullivan's "Goodbye Lizzie Borden." Even if his predisposition is towards Lizzie's guilt. He was one of the first to make the connection between the Jury and the Manchester murder.

Though my bias in favor of Radin's book is worth mentioning, since it was the first book I read on the subject. Also, Radin's simple writing skills make his book easy to read.

But to get back to Rebello, Ray...........,with all respect Ray, I think you are doing a great injury to "Past and Present" and a disservice to yourself to state about Rebello: " but I can assure you that its a secondary work,"

I am sure you made that statement for the sake of argument and to stimulate a little dispute or conversation. I don't think that you believe that statement yourself, at least not until you have read it. I'm sure you agree?

But it is true that one should go back to the original documents or "Photostats." I'm sure it is not always done and many authors today are in the habit of quoting other authors, assuming that if they dare publish it and place their name to it, that the correct research was done. In that respect you are right to question.

In all the authors who reproduce The Robinsky Letter, none match the others, Brown included.
One can no longer know the proper rendition.
Probably the newspaper's.

I just ordered my Rebello book from the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast last week. Today I went there to check to see if they had any left and there were none listed.

I had no idea that the book was getting hard to find.
Is there any other "Must Have" books that may be hard to obtain?
If so, maybe I need to start looking for them now too.

I was thinking the same thing so I just checked and I have received a confirmation receipt from the bed and breakfast. I hope they have a copy left to send me.

Got the call last night from Lee-Ann that I was dreading. No Rebello book for me, I am bummed.. But it was great getting to talk to the owner of Lizzies house though. She said she would keep an eye out for a copy of that book for me though, she is so nice and helpful.
