I took my son to see "Monster House" at the movies this afternoon. They give you these 3-D glasses (not paper ones - real plastic ones!). The effects were good. At times it felt like you could just reach out and touch things.

Kids should enjoy the fast-moving action. The script was amusing for adults. It's worth seeing if you like animated films.

I wanna see 'Lady in the Water', too. And the new movie with Robin Williams in it (not the RV comedy). He is really good in serious roles, especially if he plays a bad guy.

Yes Augusta, I remember when I was but a baby 10 years old or so, me and my buddies went to the Strand Theater on Pleasant street to see a movie called "13 Ghosts" One of the first, if not the first 3D movies made.

You needed 3D Glasses to see the ghosts. They were paper of course. (the glasses not the ghosts)

Even the people in the movie could not see the ghosts without the glasses. Unique movie, B standards you can say.

Being a child, I did not sleep well for weeks.

My #2 son is planning to see Monster House....and he's 25. He loves those animated movies. I have to admit I love them as well. I'd love to see the new WTC movie with Nicholas Cage. He's also in another new movie called "The Wicker Man". Sounds good as well.

I remember 13 Ghosts! Not many do.
They re-released it later for TV without the effects of 3-D of course. I can't remember how they accomplished the ghosts.
I do think it was the first.
I've also seen House of Wax about a gazillion times. (Charles Bronson's second movie? First?) I'm a fan of old 3-D.

Mb: My God - "Thirteen Ghosts"! It's funny you should bring that movie up. I taped it off of tv years ago, and my kids think it's hilarious - that guy putting those goofy glasses on. Every time one of us goes to the optometrist, the kids laugh and ask if the person saw any ghosts.

That guy who played the main character - the father - his character was so stupid! He just acted so dumb.

Had to watch, tho. It is a classic.

Went to see Monster House last night with my fiance, for some reason we had the whole movie theater to ourselves! The 3-D effect was extremely well done and added an exciting element to the movie. We both thought that the storyline was rather dark and a bit adult at times for kids, but, maybe we were both basing it on what was acceptable movie fare from when we were kids? Anyway, a fun movie to watch.
