Lizzie Borden's my third cousin ...

So claimed the father of Robert C. McManus of Skowhegan, Maine in this newspaper article. There's just that one line reference to Lizzie in the article but I always find it interesting that people still lay claim to even a distant relationship.

There was a McManus mentioned at the time of the murders. Lizzie when asked at the Inquest of her father's holdings mentions the building on South Main where the McManus store was. It's spelled incorrectly in the Inquest transcript as McMannus.
On Aug. 5th, 1892 this appeared in the FR Globe in an article on Andrew's assets:
"... He also owned the property on which the McManus and Fielden stores are located and also a vast amount of smaller lots in different sections."
I don't know if there is any relationship of the store to the McManus family mentioned in the article.
