Car trouble on a Holiday weekend

Why is it that cars ALWAYS break down on holiday weekends when there is no one around????
My stupid engine light came on last night but is running fine so what is up with that?
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always seem to get mysterious phone calls from my bank on Friday at 4:22 pm of a Holiday weekend, as they leave a cryptic message on my answering machine and come later to find out they are soliciting for a portfolio!
AARRGGHH!
There is usually something on a late Friday afternoon of a Monday Holiday that appears out of the blue only to cause worry!
I hope you have a cell phone to call for help!

Sorry to hear about your car problem, Pammie.
It seems to me that every computer problem I've ever had has happened on a weekend. Usually a long weekend like this one. Got my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your car...I've got a 98 station wagon with 135,000 miles on it, and it often runs with the "check engine" light on :) But it's
been checked and runs fine...knock on wood. Hope it's nothing serious with your car -- keep us posted.

Yes..........if it's a "check engine light" I don't think you have much to worry about. Check engine lights have to do with emissions and not the operation of the engine in general. Some sensor is taking a reading it doesn't like.
Just as long as it's not a 'HOT and COLD" light or an "ALTERNATOR" or "BATTERY" light. If it's your "CHECK ENGINE" light I think it's ok to drive. Still, have it checked out soon, though I use to drive with it on for years and ignore it.

Oh I just got *took* by that "Check Engine" light!
They ran a diagnostic and it was the "Check Engine" light sensor! Then I had to replace that and it was like $200!

Yeah, I'm hoping it's nothing major. I had a problem a few months ago where the "check engine" light came on and it was routine maintenance issue, so hopefully it's the same thing or something that would cost me a ton of money. I hate car troubles! I'm going to call my mechanic in the morning and see if he can take the car and see what's what, now I just have to figure out how me and Dave will get back and forth to work!
