How to post pictures

I'm sure this has been explained a million times---however I was unsuccessful doing a forum search.
Can anyone tell me how to post pictures to the forum? I believe the easiest way is thru photobucket.
Anyone have instructions handy?
Thanks!

What I do, Tina, is I download a picture from the web by right clicking on the photo and click "save picture as." I save it to "My Documents" and then when I want to add it to my post I click on the "Browse" button at the bottom of the posting page and click on that picture I saved. That adds the picture to my post. I can't remember if you have to click on the "Add Attachment" buttom too or not. It's easier doing it than talking about it.
There are probably other ways of doing it but that is the way I do it. I have XP Pro.

Excellent. I'll give that a try. For some reason I thought it was more complicated. Thanks!

OK, here is my revised instructions for posting a photo on this forum. I left out a step in my original post.
1. Type in your text,
2. At the bottom of the post page click on the "Browse" button,
3. A pop-up box will appear with a long list of places in your computer where stuff can be stored. Click on "My Documents" then click on "My Pictures" (if that is where you store your pictures otherwise click on the folder that contains your pictures), then click on the picture that you want,
4. At the bottom of the pop-up box click the "Open" button. The pop-up box will now disappear,
5. Now click on the "Add Attachment" button at the bottom of the post page. You will now notice that the name of your picture will appear next to "Filename,"
6. Now click on the "Preview" button to see if the photo is on your post. If it is and you are happy with everything then click the "Submit" button. Make sure, before you click the "Submit" button, that you have the right photo attached to your post or the whole world may see that nude picture taken of you hanging from the chandelier during last year's party. That kind of thing happens so make sure of the photo. Nothing on the internet stays private. The last thing you want to hear is, "And in tonight's news..."
I haven't used the "File Comment" boxes yet.
One thing you may want to do when you download a picture to your computer from the net is to give it a name otherwise the stock name, like "thumb" will stay with the photo.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.

A onea and a twoa...
You might want to print out the instructions I posted above and then follow along that way, if you haven't already done that, Tina. Are you downloading the photo onto your computer first? I've never downloaded a photo onto the forum directly from the net. Photobucket has a way of deleting photos after a certain amount of time. Are you a PC or a Mac?
Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm on a PC with a dial-up service.
It seems to take a very long time & I wonder if that is the problem. I'm following the instructions exactly & it should be as easy as doing an email attachment.
What I can't figure out is how I got as far as I did on my 1st try & then nothing at all after. Grrr!
Anyway...

I have dial-up too. The site has been running slow this morning. Let me try posting another photo to see if I missed one of my own steps.
Here goes...

Yea, it works. Same steps as before.

I got an idea, Tina. Since your photo is much bigger than mine let me try posting a bigger one and see if the larger size is causing the problem.
Here goes...

Well, it seems that my photo is not expanding to full size. Maybe I missed a step. Let me try it again.

The site seems to be having trouble. It is slowing down to a crawl. Bigger photos are not getting through. I'll try again later with a larger photo and see if it will expand automaically. It may be 4th of July net traffic, I'm guessing. It may not be you, Tina.

I got a document, not a JPG. out of your attachment, TK.
Did you want it to be a
document?
It seems unnecessarily complicated that way?
It did download- but it's also my understanding this server likes small file sizes, like 100k or less.
(Who are all those people bigsteve?)

I got a photograph when clicking on the "download" in Tina's post. For some reason large photographs are not uploading to the forum just small ones.
Let me try another small one...
Yea, small ones load but big woppers don't. Tina, your photograph is 1.03 MB in size. The biggest one I tried to load was over 100KB. It looks like what Kat said about transmissions over 100K is correct.
"C'mon Eddie, pick up that sax & join me!" I love it, Tina!

Kat- The top photo is Jennifer Syme. She was Keanu Reeve's girl friend and was killed in an auto accident. Actor Keanu Reeves was the "cop hero" in Sandra Bullock's film "Speed." She is buried next to their baby daughter. A very sad story.
The second photo is of actress/singer Georgia Brown on location.
The second photo is also of Georgia dressed up as a "town tramp" in one of her films.
The bottom photo is also of Georgia in another one of her films.
I love her voice!

I finally did it!!!
Steve, I have been playing around, off and on, all day, with trying to post a photo, following your procedure - I could not get past step #3, to save my life! When I clicked on the "Add Attachment" feature, nothing would happen, and it would not let me go any further!
Then, out of frustration, I
accidentally clicked on the "
Open" button at the bottom of the pop-up box containing "My Pictures", and the pop-up box disappeared, leaving the name of the file in the filename box; I, then, did a "Preview", and it worked!!!
Do you also click on the "Open" button at the bottom of the pop-up box containing your photos, after clicking on the "Add Attachment" button?
Tina-Kate, thank you for bringing up this topic, as I have been wondering how to post a photo for quite some time.
And, Steve, thank you for writing up the instructions for us.

Atta girl, Judy. I overlooked the "Open" button. I have revised my instructions above to include that important step. The "Open" button should be clicked on
before clicking on the "Add Attachment" button. Like I said, it is easier to do it than to talk through it. If I have to stop and think about each step my brain get's confused.
I love that cat.

It worked!!! At least I can see it on my computer. And like Kat reminds us, we can click on the posted image to enlarge it. Thanks, Steve!

Thanks, Steve.
I know what you mean by saying that it is easier to do the task, than to talk your way through it, however, I think you did a great job at writing up the instructions and sticking with us through the difficulties. I, for one, appreciate it. I am sure Tina-Kate will, now, have no trouble posting her pic.

Thank you, gang. I'm glad I could help. It's been a real pleasure.
I love that car, Diana. I bet that would be a honker all spiffed-up. "Maplecroft, James, and step on it."

Thanks for your help, Steve. I'll try it again.
"Eddie" is a big lovable ginger tom. I look after him when his "Mum" goes away. She recently introduced me as "Eddie's Nanny"

She's a pianist & leads a swing band. I discovered that pic on line, printed it out with the caption & stuck it on her fridge.
Obviously, I have to get the size down.
Another thing that is driving me crazy is I can't seem to get this computer to create jpegs. It was easy as pie on my old MAC.
Congrats, Judy & Diana! I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

Thanks, Tina-Kate. Steve's revised instructions are right on! In the process of playing around, with this feature, yesterday, I was able to get a 133.76 KB pic to appear. (See below). I know you will eventually get it, just hang in there.

I think the title of your picture is the longest I've ever seen on this Forum, twinsrwe!

Kat @ Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:02 am wrote:I think the title of your picture is the longest I've ever seen on this Forum, twinsrwe!

...
I know, Kat.

For whatever reason, on the day I posted that picture, I was not allowed to change the title; I received a pop-up message stating that the title could not be changed because it was currently being used by another person, or something like that.

However, I see today that I am allowed to change the title. Go figure!!!
Go ahead and click on the picture to enlarge it - you'll see the waterfall in action! Pretty cool, huh?

I love the car too! A friend saw it in her uncle's garage in England and snapped the photo on impulse. It's one of my favorite pictures.
Twinsrwe -- I couldn't believe you were able to post an action shot on your second try -- good for you! That waterfall is really pretty!

Thanks, Diana. That waterfall picture is one of my favorites; the colors are so striking, and they are in perfect harmony with each other.
I have this waterfall picture saved in the "My Pictures" section of "My Documents", which I have programmed in my computer as a screensaver. When I am away from my computer for more than 15 minutes, the photos in "My Pictures" begin to display, one by one, on my computer, until I go back on, and move my mouse.
I would be glad to post instructions for programming a "My Pictures Slideshow", if anyone is interested.
I can't resist posting the animated picture below; talk about being cuter than a bug's ear!!! (Click on the image to enlarge and animate).
