Does the B and B do anything special for her birthday? Wouldnt it be a blast to go and have ice cream and cake at the house. You suppose they had ice cream back then? I remember my moms old ice cream maker that had to be hand cranked, you suppose they had that back then?
I think I would buy Lizzie a new maple tree for her birthday. Yup Lizzie needs some trees.

Yes! The Bordens did have ice cream.
Ice cream vendor Hyman Lubinsky testified for the defense at Lizzie's trial, saying he had seen a woman coming thru the Borden yard apparently on her way from the barn. He stated it wasn't Bridget, because he had sold her ice cream in the past.

Oh Geesh forgot all about Lubinsky. I think Lizzie would have had 2 scoops of "Rocky Road"

Don't know how much faith can be put in this, but, apparently when Lizzie was in the hospital for her gallbladder operation the nurses found that her favorite frozen treat was orange sherbert. I recall reading this on the Forum quite some time ago, but, the source?

There's always a birthday cake on her birthday at the house and some cards on the mantel. We will probably wait until Saturday night this week for a little party when the house has a good crowd.

I went to a performance by the New York City Ballet this evening. During intermission, the man in the next seat said to his wife "Today is Lizzie Borden's birthday!" I said to him, "how did you know?" he replied, "my watch gives me a list of unusual things that happened this day in history."
Turned out he was from Boston and used to drive through Fall River all the time. He said he had been by the Second Street house, but wasn't ready to stay in the bed and breakfast quite yet.
Happy birthday, SteveS.!

Happy Birthday Lizabeth.
You're right Steves. It would be kind of neat to have your Birthday on the same day as Lizzie's Birthday.
You have convinced me. I am going to change my Birthday so that it is on the same day as Lizzie's Birthday.

I have always wanted to be able to sing that song to Lizzie in person. "you say its your birthday......da da da da da. Well it's my birthday too ya......da da da da da" I don't think she'd like her spotlight being stolen though.

But this is what actualy got me into the whole Lizzie Borden thing was when I found out we were both born in Fall River and had the same birthday. 98 years apart.

You were remembered Steve! We had cake Friday night and another big chocolate cake with whipped cream frosting last night for the Mystery Writers group.. Lizzie received a big exotic bouquet of birds of paradise, ginger flower, dendrobia orchids and ty leaves all from Hawaii, from an admirer. Several sprays of orchids were taken to her grave on the 19th. The Happy Birthday song was sung with gusto and smiles all around.
Yesterday was a trip to Mee Sum for- CHOW MEIN!
