I'm about ready to publish my new book, The Unfortunate Dr. Webster . Webster was executed for the murder of Dr. George Parkman in Boston in 1850. I've concluded after considerable research that Webster was not guilty and he was the victim of a Parkman family conspiracy. Kat and Harry gave me a slew of info!
I'm taking pre-orders. PM me if you want one.

Joe's first book, 'The Murder of Andrew Sigler', was great! Personally, I'm glad to see him choose this Dr. Webster story. I read Edmund Pearson's version of it, and I found it hard to understand. I already understand more of it now, with just Joe's first post.

I had to look for this thread, I remembered seeing it before.
Last night, I read a story from a book of short stories called First Degree by William Kunstler, published in 1960.
The story is about Dr Webster, enttitled murder in payment. Being a short story it does not take an in depth look at the case.
The author claims that Webster confessed to the crime before he was executed. I don't know if this is correct. Considering it seemed certain they were going to execute him if he kept claiming innocent, it might seem likely that Webster may have falsely confessed, hoping for a change of sentence, to save his life.
It also says that Webster claimed in court that his defense council did not produce cetain evidence that would have shown him to be innocent.

Actually, Webster did not confess. His "confession" was written by Rev. Putnam, Webster's spiritual advisor while waiting to be executed. I have a copy of the original and it's not in Webster's handwriting.
It's true about the defense. They did a lousy job. You can buy my book, The Unfortunate Dr. Webster, where I explain who really killed Dr. Parkman and why Webster was accused.
If you want me to send you a copy, PM me.

If you are interested in the Webster case then Joe's book is a must read. It covers the case in great detail and is well researched. I enjoyed it.

If it's not asking to much Harry, can you display an image of the cover?
My mind is a card file of book covers. When I go to a book sale I can spot a desired book by it's cover or spine from clear across the room. Familiar titles pop right out to me.
