I was reading thru the book, "The Trial Of Lizzie Borden", and I was getting confused at part of Briget's testimony. Kind of makes me wonder if she wasn't hiding something to protect Lizzie.

First statement: " Then I see Mr. Borden and Mr. Morse out by the back door. Mr. Borden let h ime out, came to the sink and cleaned his teeth at the sink, and took a big bowlful of water and took it up to his room.

Five minutes later Miss. Lizzie came through the kitchen. I was washing the dishes and I asked her what did she want for breakfast. She said she didn't know as she wanted any breakfast, but she guessed she would have something she guessed she would have some cofdfe and cookies."



Second statement: "I didn't see lizzie anywhere about. I can't say exactly, but I think this was about nine o'clock. Then I cleaned off my stove, went in the dining room and sitting room, shut the windows I was going to wash, and went down cellara and got a pail for to take some water. I didn't see anybody in the rooms I got a barush in the kitchen closet, filled my pail and took it out doors."

Then she says, "As I went outside, Lizzie Brden appeared in the back entry, and says, Maggie, are you going to wsh the windows? I says Yes. You needn't lock the door; I will be out around here; but you can lock it if you want to; I can get the water in tihe barn. I went to the barn to get the handle for the brush."

Seems to me Lizzie was all over the place, so how can she make the statement that she didn't see lizzie anywhere about -around nine o'clock?

Any thoughts on this?

I believe that between 9 and 9:30 Bridget did not see Lizzie.
I don't think Lizzie saw Bridget either. That was probably the time of Abbie's murder.
Which girl was the last to see Abbie alive?

I think it's very possible that Bridget heard the murder of Andrew from upstairs. When I was in FR once, Stef was all the way downstairs, and Kat and I were chatting up in Bridget's room. In a normal voice, Stef said, "Sherry, Kat - come down." We could hear her clear as a bell. I doubt that Bridget fell asleep so quickly up in her room.
