I no longer follow baseball, or any other sport, since there are no financial or tangible returns. Why would I root for someone making 32 million? My reasoning apparatus just can't support it any longer.
But that being said, here is a wonderful story where the fans actually WIN.

"...Joe Shortsleeve (perhaps the best TV name in the business)"
Wasn't that Joseph Shortsleeves who testified?

They talked about that offer all through the World Series but the offer was based on anyone stealing a base, not on the Red Sox winning the series.
Every time someone would be on base they brought the subject up until one of the Red Sox players finally stole second. It may have been as late as the 3rd game.
Yes, Tina-Kate, Joseph Shortsleeves worked with Mather in fixing Clegg's new store window and was one of the last people outside the house to see Andrew alive. He testified at the trial.
And guess what - he was born in Canada! That according to the Glossary in the Knowlton papers. He lived in FR and was sometimes listed in the city directories as "Short" and "Courtemanche"

Right you are TINA-KATE:
Shortsleeves was the carpenter that spoke to Andrew along his walk home that August 4th.
I think old Joe testified at the preliminary and the trial.
He was born in Canada....

Hey, no problem mb. It happens to me often.
A few times I have gone back to the post I was responding to to clarify something and found that someone else had already posted what I was going to say. It's all in the timing.

Getting it wrong, as he does many times in his book, Frank Speiring (on page 31 of his book LIZZIE) calls Shortsleeve, "Shirtsleeves.
