Long lost pictures are turning up all over these days.

A picture has turned up of Anne Frank's "one true love" & it was recently donated to the Anne Frank museum.

This is a very cool trend, I must say!

I saw that....very sweet. Makes me sad as well to see those two children who died in concentration camps....

I read the book when I was 12 or 13, and saw the movie, years later. It left quite an impression, one I still remember even today. It's amazing for a picture to turn up after all these years!

I love the story of Anne Frank. I saw the '59 movie in the '60's and then read the books. Been reading about her since. I had the chance to meet with the woman who hid the Frank family but I was "busy." Quick, somebody kick my butt!! What a fool I was!!

Thank you for the great post, Tina-Kate! I hadn't heard it on tv. What a cute little boy! How sad - and just horrible - that he, and all the people then, were killed. It's hard to look at his picture for long, once I read he died, too.

The guy that gave the photo to the museum was 81??!!! Wow - I'm glad he thought to do it, otherwise it might have been lost altogether.

The diary was originally edited by her father, Otto. He had taken out parts that were "risque". Around 1990 the diary was published again, and they put in the parts Otto took out. It was different enough of an edition to be worth reading the diary again, tho I have read the diary several times.

Big Steve, how did you almost get a chance to see the person who hid her? Did she speak on her book when it came out? Or do a book signing? What were you doing that made you 'too busy' to go?

They had her diary displayed at the Institute of Arts here, and I wanted to see it so bad. I kept putting it off and then it got sent off to the next museum.

There was a book about 20 years ago that came out that "Miep" wrote, that was fabulous. Anne Frank had changed the name of her to "Miep" in her diary to protect her. I don't remember what her real name was. She did some tv interviews when her book came out. The book was incredible.

Besides the movie in 1959, which I love, was a made for TV movie based on "Miep's" book, which cast Mary Steenburgen in the title role. That was very similar to "Miep's" book. It was very good, but Mary Steenburgen's German (?) accent in the role threw me off track all the time. She has such a distinctive voice, and you just knew she was acting. Another made for TV movie was done with Melissa Gilbert playing Anne.

There is a real good book I have called something like "The Last 7 Days of Anne Frank". It was written by someone who was at the last concentration camp Anne was in, and she writes of those days. And, only a few years ago, a book came out about Otto Frank which I bought but haven't read yet. You might be able to find the books I mention on Amazon or Abe Books.com. [/i]

I had an opportunity to meet Miep Gies when she came by my area on her speaking tour a few years ago. I was busy with work around my house but looking back I wish I had gone to see her. The chance of a lifetime gone! Although I don't look at Miep as a "celebrity" I usually avoid meeting people who are "in the news" types, or celebrities of any kind. They give me the creeps for some reason or other so that probably was part of the reason why I stayed away.

Miep's book is called, "Anne Frank Remembered." A very insightful book on Anne and the Otto family. Another good book on Anne is, "The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank" by Willy Lindwer. There is another book I love called, "Anne Frank: Beyond The Diary." It is full of photos you won't see anywhere else and is written for kids by Scholastic.

I have the unedited diary of Anne's but I haven't read it yet. The story of Anne has been of interest to me for decades.
