Testimony

I've noticed lately that some are using the word "testimony" when I'm not quite sure that is what they mean.

They might accidentally be using that word as a convenience, but it's a misnomer.

In my experience, when we say something is in "testimony" we should be able to cite it right then - meaning back-up what is posted with actual statements made under oath- in fact looking it up to refresh our memory before posting using that word. This is just a cautionary note, because we do get involved and caught up in our topics. At least I do- I hope we all do! :cat:

If one is speculating, or theorizing, or thinking they *read something somewhere* go right ahead- if you think that is a valid way to put your point out there- but reserving the word "testimony" for actual question and answer information from a source document would be more clear to those reading us.

To help people get hold of and download and read the sources and the "testimony" one can go here:

It is also fun to re-read this stuff from time-to-time!

Much like the difference between hypothesis and theory.
