Has anyone read the book by Walter Satterthwait called "Miss Lizzie"? Is it any good? I just bought it from a second hand book store for 2 dollars. I figured when I bought it for that that if it wasn't any good, I haven't wasted any money. But is it any good? I do know it's a fictional book based on the events of murders and stuff.

Snokkums I want to know how you knew how to spell Satterthwait? It's the hardest author name to spell on the planet! :cat:

I copied it off the book. Kat, I am the worst speller in the world so I figured I better have the book sitting in front of me if I wanted to spell his name write. Oh, do like the photo. I am surprised he didn't have a headache.

It's a grisly, fun novel, but the author does something he thinks is cute and which I found maddening: he names a character who has nothing to do with Fall River after one of the players in the case. Namely, the Dr. Bowen who is sent for at one point in the book is not OUR Dr. Bowen and he's not a relation, either. It's just a very confusing idea from WS., imo.

To me, it was the worst Lizzie book I ever read. Even tho it was fiction, he gave us a Lizzie in older age who smoked cigars and played cards. I read it once, then a while back I gave it to the church thrift shop.

On some websites, I've seen that book go for like forty bucks, or as low as one or two dollars.

He has written another book that came out recently. I can't remember if this one is about Lizzie or not. I saw it fleetingly, as I knew I wouldn't be buying it.

There are some, tho, who really liked that "Miss Lizzie". I can't figure out why, but everyone is unique.
