Listening Upstairs

One day when I was touring the B & B with the Kooreys, Kat and I were up in Bridget's attic room. Stef called up the stairs, "Come quick," ala Lizzie. She didn't yell it; I think she just stood at the bottom of the stairs and said it. There were others in the house downstairs, but it must be the acoustics of the two flights of stairs - Kat and I heard her quite clearly.

I wonder if anyone has done the reverse - made the noise of Abby falling where she did, and how far away that noise could travel.

If Bridget was outside cleaning windows as she claimed - it's doubtful she would have heard Abby falling - even less of a possibility if Abby was on her knees when she was attacked.

The only other person in the house was Lizzie - considering the circumstances, not a very reliable witness.

Yes-the Abby falling scenario has been done many times. It cannot be heard outside. It can be heard in the sittingroom, diningroom and front hall. Only one person said he could hear it from the kitchen with the sittingroom door closed and I have to wonder about that guy. And all this was with a relatively quiet house at night with people listening intently.

Yes it is only a conjecture; based upon the contusions we automatically think of a loud thud -and the fact that she was a heavy woman. Even making a good loud thud, the sound is only heard in the places descibed above, and Abby could as easily have sunk to her knees or reeled into the mattress or dresser on the way down without a single sound. Which is actually even more chilling.

Yes Shelley:

I felt I had to add some voice to this issue, since many assume that Abby did slam the floor and made a noise. Of course it is a possible that it happened that way, but it has been repeated so many times that some may think it to be fact.

Sometimes something gets repeated so many times we begin to believe it.
