My try at Lizzie poetry

My bad attempt at some Lizzie poetry.
LIZZIE BORDEN CAME TO TEA.
Lizzie Borden came to tea.
She sat right down next to me.
I didn’t gawk I didn’t stare.
Even though a glimpse of her is rare.
I tried not to look so I stared at the pitcher of milk.
But couldn’t help notice her dress of navy blue bengaline silk.
Probably got it at Sergeants, it was very pretty
I should think per yard a $1.50.
What does one say, what does one do?
When Lizzie Borden is sitting right next to you.
Miss Russell and Mrs. Churchill are across the room.
With looks on their faces of impending doom.
Not a word was spoken not even a nod.
It was dead silence like we were in a House of God.
Mrs. Dr. Bowen is a very gracious host.
Her maid Kathleen is all the boast.
Bridget was just as silent and serving.
Maybe to the point of being unnerving.
What does one say, what does one do?
When Lizzie Borden is sitting right next to you.
The clock on the mantle started to chime.
So I turned to Miss Lizzie and said “oh pshaw what a crime.”
“If silence is golden then we are beyond rich.”
I chuckled loudly as tea saucers did twitch.
Lizzie said to me “No dear, it’s you that’s a treasure”.
She then left and her eyes smiled at the pleasure.
Her empty spot near me spoke of her woes.
In her place was a single red rose.
What does one say, what does one do?
When Lizzie Borden is sitting right next to you.
