I have always wondered this. While she was in jail waiting trial and during the trial, did Lizzie get special treatment because she was the daughter of a weathy man? Just thought since she came from money if the jailers treated her speical or gave her special privileges, maybe being so hard of her.

There's an issue of The Hatchet (not sure which), that describes Emma's devotion to making sure Lizzie didn't have it rough at Taunton. Apparently she had catered meals, got mail, treats, little gifts and regular visits from Emma and a few friends. I think she also got to take daily strolls out of her cell.

It's amazing she got all that attention when she was locked up, but, after the trial, not to many people. to included Emma really wanted to be seen with her.

I'm sure Lizzie would have recieved good treatment even without Emma's visits. People of "class" usually do. It's human nature.

I totally agree, they would never have thrown her in with the regular working people. She not only had money, I'm sure there were many people that were connected to her father and knew him for many years.
