I organized a Fall River event for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day that ran today: 1000 Valentines for the Troops. We had a huge turnout and everyone had a wonderful, fun time creating banners and cards to send to the US troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. It snowed all night last night but stopped this morning just in time for a bright lovely start to the day.

We had volunteers and participants from all over the South Coast. 20 Curry College students served as my set up crew and helped everyone make the cards and well wishes. They were so great!

Big thanks go to the sponsors: Save Our Neighborhoods, the City of Fall River, BOLD, CD REC, and Arts United.

Thanks also to Jeff Carpenter for his great artistic vision and Al Lima for his incredible contributions and immense moral support.

Here are some snaps of the event for you to enjoy. Click on the image to view a slideshow. Or on the link to MondoLizzie for the same photo show.
