It is with great sadness that I let you know that our dear friend, Glen "Joe" Carlson, passed away from his motorcycle accident injuries on Saturday.

From his wife, Andree:

Each of his injuries was manageable, but all of his injuries together couldn't be overcome. Please don't rail against the bike or the circumstances or the driver of the car. Father Daryl reminded me that God doesn't make accidents happen; they are just exactly that: accidents. Sometimes we, all of us I think, forget that prayers are answered, but it's not my will be done--it's Thy will be done, another reminder from Father Daryl.

He was cared for by the best and most knowledgeable people at the University of Kentucky hospital, and everything thing medically possible that could be done for him was done.

I would not wish back one single second of the time we spent on the bike or the pure joy Joe had when we were riding. There's so much to say, but none of it adequate. The greatest honor of my life was to have been loved by Joe. The greatest honor any of you could do him is to care for others the way he cared for everyone: without limits.

Condolences can be sent to Andree Carlson at P.O. Box 858, Berea, KY, 40403.

I feel bad that I never got around to sending a get well card. I intended to, but hadn't done it yet. My sympathy to the family. I will miss you here Joe.

You're not alone, Tony, I feel terrible. I bought a card which I intended to send out to him right away, but have not yet mailed it. A hard lesson has been learned on my part - don't put off until tomorrow what you can get done today. Joe truly was a good friend and he will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.

Stefani, thank you for notifying us of Joe's passing.

OMG, I totally did the same thing, Judy, I feel just awful that I never sent the card. My condolences to his family, we'll miss you, Joe.

"If tears could build a stairway And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven And bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you No one will ever know

But now we know you want us To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store

Since you'll never be forgotten We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts Is where you'll always stay"

I bought a get well card too and never got around to sending it. Strange how so many of us did that ..

I'm saddened by Joe's passing. He was a good friend - a beautiful person - a truly good person. I will miss him always.

Thanks for posting his wife's address, Stef. I do have it somewhere, but you've made it much more accessible.

It's hard to believe he's gone. He was a vibrant person; so full of life, laughs and love. Get your rest in now, Joe, 'cause when I get up there we're gonna have ourselves a time! God Bless, my beloved friend.
